The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Avianca LifeMiles is offering a transfer bonus of 30% when you transfer from specific hotel programs or Citi

The Fine Print

  • This Promotion is valid only for the transfer of points or miles from LifeMiles´ conversion participating partners (“Lifemiles Partners”) to miles of the LifeMiles program from June 03rd (12:00 AM GMT-6) to July 05th, 2019 (12:59 PM GMT-6).
  • LifeMiles grants a 25% bonus on the miles accrued on the member´s account, product of a transfer of points or miles to LifeMiles.
  • The full list of LifeMiles Partners can be found in www.LifeMiles.com. Each the member is responsible for checking if their preferred program is a LifeMiles Partner in the promotion, before making the transfer.

Our Verdict

Citi is the main one of interest as the transfer rate is 1:1, under this bonus it would become 1:1.25. It’s always interesting to see these types of transfer bonuses from the airline/hotel directly rather than the financial institution. I won’t list this under the Citi transfer bonuses main page because of this difference.

  • I called Lifemiles and they said it can take up to 45 regular days for the 5% bonus to post, so we'll see. It's mentioned in the T&C, but it's strange because the regular 25% bonus posted instantly, but according to them we'll need to wait for the 5% bonus.

    • For what it's worth, my "missing" 5% posted automatically the very next day as a separate line item.

      • Interesting. I just checked mine and 5% bonus hasn't posted yet. Maybe because it's the weekend? I transferred my points on 6/28 Friday, so maybe it'll post on 7/1 Monday. Fingers crossed.

  • just transferred from citi to avianca (within the times listed) and got a 25% bonus, not a 30% bonus.

  • Since Lifemiles did away with their award chart a few months ago, they have had some outstanding values on domestic United flights. I booked a last minute $350 IAH-DEN flight a few weeks ago for 4500 miles, and some cursory searches around the US shows many United saver flights anywhere from 3500-10000 miles, seemingly somewhat correlated with distance but not always a rhyme or reason. It's definitely the best value atm for domestic United flights. Blogs really haven't picked up on it yet, I'm sure it won't last long once they do. With this bonus it's an insane value on some of these flights.

  • Can it be targeted? Doesn't work for me, and I've tried a few times. The only bonus I see is 30% for VS (btw, expires on 6.22).

  • chuck and will do you mind telling me if you know if this has it ever been more then 25% like stackable with citis own bonus combined with theirs

  • FYI: I transferred 65000 Citi Points a few days ago. Instant transfer with 25% bonus! I then booked IAH-EDI-IAH for 60000 LifeMiles on United. Remaining points are for other trips.
