Barclay Announces Additional Features For It’s No Annual Fee Arrival Card

Barclaycard has added some extra benefits on it’s no annual fee arrival card. They are as follows:

  • Introductory APR of 0% for twelve months (then 14.99-18.99%)
  • Free TripIt Pro subscription
  • Free FICO score (TransUnion 2008 Classic Version)

Our Thoughts

This update is nothing special and brings this card in line with all of the other Barclay cards that offer an interest free period for twelve months. Because the no annual fee version of this card comes with 20,000 sign up points and the annual fee version comes with 40,000 (with the annual fee waived for the first year) there really is no reason as to why somebody would apply for this card directly.

The upside of these changes is that those who start with the annual fee card can often downgrade to the no annual fee after the first year. Having access to a free FICO score is an excellent feature and those who’ve held the annual fee card before will likely be familiar with TripIt Pro and prefer it offer to the other free solutions out there.

All in all these are nice changes by Barclay’s, but definitely nothing exceptional. If you’re going to apply for anything, make sure you apply for the annual fee card.
