Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced today they are winding down operations with plans to close all Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby stores. They are still seeking a buyer, and so there is a chance things can still change.
- Those famous 20% Bed Bath & Beyond coupons will be accepted through April 26.
- Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards can be used through May 8th.
- Bed Bath & Beyond merchandise credits can be used until May 15.
- Welcome Rewards can be used until May 15, but new rewards won’t be issued for purchases.
- Bed Bath & Beyond will process returns or exchanges until May 24 on products bought before April 23.
- Bed Bath & Beyond expects to partner with another platform to transfer wedding registry data.
- Store closing sales will start on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Just came back from a somewhat secluded inconveniently located Buy Buy Baby store in a wealthy, predominantly white neighborhood, and store shelves were shockingly still stocked, despite 20% storewide markdowns. Apparently, no one in that area wants talking Baby Yodas marked down to $12 or the non-talking versions marked down to $6.
When asked about when that particular store was scheduled to close, the friendly store associate said that she didn’t know because of “the lawsuits”. I don’t see how retail investors buying BBBY stonks en masse are really doing anything to change the inevitable, so I’m willing to bet that markdowns will go up to 40% before August.

The stores in Mexico are planning on remaining open, as in store shopping is a lot higher in Mexico than in the USA. And in store personal shoppers who deliver to homes is very high in Mexico through Rappi and Uber Cornershop.

Are the World Market stores closing as well, or just the Bed Bath & Beyond stores? I haven’t heard anything about that store, though I thought they were connected/same company.

Tried to use my last $50 gift card. Was able to check balance at 11:10pm CT. Now Bed Bath and Baby stores are all saying access denied at 11:30pm CT…
Website back up albeit with limited supply. I was able to use my $50 GC on an item. Order went through at 12:02am CT. Item was $49.99, free shipping, so only had to pay $4.11 in tax.
I’ve read that Bed Bath & Beyond Gift Cards are accepted at Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuyBaby, Christmas Tree Shops, One Kings Lane, Cost Plus World Market, Face Values. Anyone have experience using them at these other stores?
Not likely that they can be used at Christmas Tree Shops or World Market, since those companies were sold off a while back. Not sure about One Kings Lane.
