Introduction
One of the reasons that this site is so useful is because the readers of the site contribute a lot of the content and help each other. I love the fact that this community helps each other out and shares deals. I thought it would be nice to show case some of the most useful comments each month and also reward people who had left these useful comments.
Remember to thank other readers if they provide a comment you found useful, everybody appreciates a compliment. In addition if you’re going to use a referral link from another reader then consider using a link of somebody who has provided you with useful information in the past.
As always, if you see a deal/something that we should post about and we haven’t, then please let us know! Either by leaving a comment or by sending us an e-mail ([email protected] or [email protected]).
Thank You
Every reader that has one of their comments chosen below will receive a $10 Amazon eGiftcard. I’ll be in touch with the winners in the coming days (don’t panic if you left a comment and haven’t received an e-mail yet).
Bank Account Bonuses
- Curmudgeon sharing a lot of different state specific bank account bonuses. Without reader submissions of these types of bonuses, we just wouldn’t be able to have such a vast array of bank account offers.
- Ferris sharing datapoints about a checking account. Similar to the above, once we’ve found a bonus we need to find out a lot of information about the bonus to make sure we know if it’s a good or bad deal. Most readers just wait on the sidelines, but a few be the datapoint they want to see in the world.
- EO & Josh letting us know that M&T accounts can be opened online for states other than the ones we had listed.
- Sam letting us know what the actual requirements are for this bonus. It’s one of my personal pet peeves when banks don’t actually let you know the requirements for a bonus without going into a branch, so it’s very much appreciated when readers do the literal leg work.
Credit Card Bonuses
- jackgopack4 experimenting with the SunTrust Platinum Elite Card. Turns out the sign up bonus wasn’t targeted at all (shame it isn’t still available), they also tested some of the benefits out as well. Readers that test things for themselves (be the datapoint you want to see) really help everybody!
Misc
- Shawn K showing the value of trying. They were able to book a five night Marriott flights & stay package without being a time share owner.
Final Thoughts & Comment Of The Month(s)
In future months I’ll let you the reader decide what comment was the best for the month and they’ll receive a $50 Amazon gift card. This month I’m deciding for you and the award goes to Curmudgeon! The reason I chose Curmudgeon is because it’s rare that more than one or two days go past that they aren’t letting me know about a new bank account bonus. In addition when others (or myself) find these bonuses Curm writes detailed useful comments sharing their experiences and tips.
I hope everybody will join me in saying thank you to everybody that provides useful content and comments on the blog. I’m hoping to make this an ongoing thing at Doctor of Credit as well, let me know if you like it or not.
P.S. Let’s keep this post positive, if it’s just filled with people complaining that their comment didn’t get chosen then I’ll simply stop giving out Amazon giftcards as I want this to be something fun and not something I dread.
P.P.S This will be done monthly, I just forgot to do it for January (and lost/missed a lot of comments from that month) so that’s why you’re seeing a combination.
