Best Posts This Week: Paypal Shutdowns, Free Night Certificates, Highest Cash Back Guarantee & More

This week was a big week for more Paypal shutdowns, Chuck shared his experiences being shut down and followed up with a great post on the morning after the shut down with some good reflection on how loosing access to paypal has effected him. There is always risk in manufactured spending, it’s all about what level of risk you’re comfortable in accepting. I think it’s also important to talk about the negatives as well as the positives to this little hobby.

There wasn’t a whole heap of credit card news this week. Wells Fargo lowered their cash redemption to $20 and now allows you to get your rewards from an ATM. Chase is being replaced by Synchrony for the BP credit cards, Green Dot will release some consumer credit cards which will probably suck and we also let you know about all the credit cards that offer free night certificates and the rules for each.

Chuck did a great job of highlighting three shopping portals that offer best rate guarantees and compared each websites policy. Giftcards.com branched off to Saveya.com for their reselling business, our guess is that Giftcards.com will be for full price giftcards while Saveya will be for buying & reselling.

We also did a thorough comparison of the three websites that currently let you earn airline miles for hotel bookings: Kaligo, PointsHound & Rocketmiles. I was actually surprised by who ended up on top.
