Best Western Is Extending Elite Status For All Members Due To COVID-19

Best Western is extending the elite status of all members due COVID-19. All members will retain their current status through January 31st, 2022 without needing to meet the normal requirements. In addition members that have had their status downgrade a tier at the end of 2019 will be ‘leveled up’ to their previous tier and maintain it through January 31st, 2022. This is the first hotel chain that has offered a global extension of elite status (Hyatt has offered extensions to some).

I hope Hilton/Marriott do the same or just lower the requirements. I will probably be downgraded at both for the year because work is cancelling trips through May.

To be fair, this is not an actual proper valuable hotel status.

Lol my Diamond Select was renewed despite not having stayed in their chain since 2018 (and only once then). Gotta love status matching

They have the easiest status match, hands down. But they also have the least valuable status.

Am I missing something, or what’s the point of having status if you are not staying at their hotels?

Stayed at few BWs lately and was impressed how they’ve improved the product. The breakfast was noticeably better quality than HIEXs & Hamptons srandards. I know that’s not saying much but hopefully it will make the brands think twice about diminishing their breakfast offerings any further.
