Our Verdict

The gc can be used for the room rate whilst staying at the hotel. So, it’s 125$ or whatever off the room rate. Which makes it almost always a good rate.

Decent value on 1-night stays. Keep in mind these are prepaid and non-cancellable rates, and that the AMEX GC will be in CAD (as will the booking, of course)
So, what you’re saying is that the $1245 CAD gc is worth about $3.50 USD.
You can change the rates to display in USD if you like as well, good points though
True but the confirmation page and actual booking will be in CAD. Just a heads up cuz I could see someone thinking it’s a better deal than it is or getting confused about the currencies.
If you’re US based, the gc will be of good use during the trip, not so much after though.
Will these AMEX gift cards spend at US merchants and simply have USD charges converted to CAD? Any idea if a foreign transaction fee applies when utilized in the US?
