Update 5/12/19: Reposting for anybody that missed the deal the first time.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Blockchain Wallet is offering free XLM (Stellar Development Foundation) when you complete your Wallet profile (this includes verifying your identity). According to Maximizing Money you get ~$50 in XLM

The Fine Print

  • Offer available until XLM giveaway supply is depleted.
  • Limit 1 XLM giveaway per person, unless participating in any bonus activities.
  • A person can receive the XLM in only 1 Blockchain Wallet. XLM is provided on a first come first rewarded basis, with priority for those with the oldest, completed (i.e., accounts with a verified email address) Blockchain Wallets.
  • Participants must have an eligible account, be willing to verify their identity, and reside in an eligible market or jurisdiction (see list here)
  • Availability in United States: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Our Verdict

Once you get the XLM you can convert it to Bitcoin and cash out using your bank account, or transfer the XLM to Coinbase or another wallet and cash out the XLM directly. Coinbase also has a deal where you can get $10 in XLM and another $40 via referrals. Up to you if you feel like verifying your identity for $50.

Legit! Just verified my identify, it took about 5 minutes.

XLM deposited instantly, transferred to Coinbase, sold and deposited to my bank account.

Thanks for the $50, Doc!

How long the transfer to Coin-base took? I transferred this morning and nothing so far…

Transferred to Binance, and it was in my wallet within a minute. Shouldn’t be taking you that long.

Sorry for my crypto ignorance but how is converting it to bitcoin going to allow me to get the money into a bank account that functions in USD without first going through some sort of exchange? This app just functions as a wallet right?

John

Looks like they have a way to buy and sell it on their website

Steve

It looks like blockchain.com lets you sell bitcoin for USD: https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000059063-What-can-I-buy-and-sell-if-I-live-in-the-United-States-
(but only in certain states)

I’m guessing you could get a better price on a real exchange site though.

I don’t see any way to do it in the app but I will check the website.

So, for those like me wanting an easy $50, but not previously interested in crypto, I think the best option is just to create a Coinbase account and transfer your XLM there. Then, sell it and cash it out via Paypal. Blockchain.com has an agreement with their own exchange that requires a separate signup on the website asking for full social and other information. Also, you can do the deal mentioned above when you sign up for Coinbase and get an extra $10 of XLM before you cashout.

Pretty cool I got $50.94 so they give a little extra. Credited right after verifying identity

This was very easy to do, no SSN is required for verification thus no hard pull or anything of that sort. You just need to enter your home address along with taking a portrait photo with your ID e.g. drivers license both front and back. Once confirmed to be verified to “Gold Status” by a Blockchain Support member, usually in a few minutes to a a hour (was 20 mins for me), they will send the $50 XLM to your wallet and you can easily cash out via the methods Charles has mentioned in the post. Do note, you may not exactly receive $50 in XLM due to market fluctuations, but close enough to $50. There is also conversion fee to Bitcoin ($1 in XLM for me)

It’s been 5 days now. I haven’t get the XML

This seems to be a continuation of this old offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/blockchain-wallet-25-xlm-with-signup-kyc-waitlist-select-states/
I guess they increased it from $25 to $50 (though, the current offer page doesn’t even specify the amount). I don’t think you can get the $50 if you already got the $25.

This took about 20-25 minutes with all of the verifications.

The part that people likely would feel most uncomfortable with is having to take a picture of yourself and your ID. I used my Global Entry card since I figured that had less risk than my DL.

The crypto posted almost immediately, and I transferred it to Coinbase as I trust that brand a lot more (also requires a DL verification if you haven’t done already).

25 minutes for $50 will do that anytime!

Stupid easy. Create a Blockchain account. Verify your email. Log in and enter basic information. Take a photo of your face and license. Approved in minutes and coins sent right after. Immediately transferred them to my coinbase account for no fee and withdrew. Transferred to bank. $50.96 at that point.

Justin Can we get an explanation on the no fee? When I moved the XLM wallet value at Blockchain, they took a few cents and got it to Coinbase, using per Max Money’s explanation, and when I moved from Coinbase to USD Wallet, ie. convert to Dollars, they took out a $2.99 fee. Then I was able to push to PayPal without another fee.

Are crypto investors just used to this and I am silly for not knowing you have to pay a fee to get crypto converted to dollars? But you specifically state you got the full amount, so please explain.

You might be able to avoid that fee with Coinbase Pro. I recommend to others either do that or use a different exchange as you shouldn’t be paying that much for conversion.

Got my $51 XLM.

I picked New York on the first page and it put up an error saying Swap is not available in your area. It also seems to block my login every time and asks me to validate browser via email. Hope others to not fall into this endless loop…

I went through all the steps, now I’ve been stuck on a screen that says “Hold on. Uploading… Do not refresh or close this window. We’re almost done.” for about 30 minutes.

Same exact thing happened to me. Lots of successful DPs here, so I had wondered if I was the only one having this problem. Tried twice and eventually gave up both times.

Try doing it on the website, that worked for me
