[Expired] Capital One: Add To Google Pay & Get $25 Statement Credit [NOT Targeted]

This deal has expired, click here for more Google Pay deals.

Update 09/19/2018: There was some concern this was targeted. Reader Jatan did not see the offer in app, but now has $25 pending. You can only do the deal once per account (rather than per card) unfortunately.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Capital One is offering a $25 statement credit when you add an eligible Capital One card to Google Pay

The Fine Print

  • The Offer begins on September 1, at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (EST) and ends October 15, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. (EST) (the “Offer Period”). Offer is subject to cancellation at an any time (including when the promotional funds are exhausted). Our server is the official time-keeping device.
  • The reward is a $25 Capital One statement credit. Once earned, the statement credit will be automatically applied to the account associated with the Qualifying Card within one (1) to two (2) billing cycles.

Our Verdict

Nothing in the fine print that suggests this is targeted, people are reporting seeing the offer when logged into the Capital One app so might be worth checking there if you are targeted. Obviously a very easy bonus to hit the requirements for. Definitely worth doing if you have a Capital One card and an eligible phone. If you don’t have an eligible phone you might be able to use a family members/trusted friend to trigger the bonus.

Haha dammit I just requested a check for my seldom used Venture card (I got it with lifetime no annual fee somehow), because I had just fulfilled an earning bonus of 200 dollars for 3,000 in spend and wasn’t planning on putting more spend on the card.

I’ve always wondered why cant capital one issue a bank transfer like many other card issuers can instead of a check. Seems to me doing so would be cheaper for capital one (no stamp) and safer. I wonder why thry dont do it?

I mentioned that to their CSR and I was basically told “that’s just the way it is.” Does seem like they are wasting resources but as long as the check clears I’ll have to be okay with it

What is this request a check thing? So you can request a check for yourself or someone else against your credit limit and its counted as a spend and works to meet minimum spend requirements?

I had a negative balance on my capital one card cause I earned a 200 dollar bonus after hitting some spend, which I had already completely paid off before I got the bonus. Usually you would ask for the negative balance to be given to you as a credit into your bank account (I have a 360 account), but C1 doesn’t do that, they had to mail me a check.

Zalmy

Chase does this as well

Do you have a link to Chase’s offer?

Zalmy

Lol. I was responding to the previous comment, about sending a check in the mail

Although Google Pay exists on the Apple app store, eligible phone here is defined as an Android phone that can run Google Pay.

Only for Android in terms, No?

I had to download the cap one app and authorize the access and a bunch of button pressing later it says my phone is not supported. I wish it had said that back when I checked the app store.

Capital One has a really bad app and terrible security — they want all the permissions on first start of the app — thanks but no thanks.

Nowhere in the terms of the offer does it actually say that you have to use their broken apps for this; all you have to do is Google Pay, presumably, on a device that supports NFC.

I presume they’re making this offer because, IIRC, they’ve had their own NFC app in the past, but like so many of their apps, it’s been deprecated recently, hence they want you to add the card to Google Pay to be able to continue to use their cards on your device.

debit card excluded… 🙁

Bummer too. Cap1 credit card not worth churning so I’d only got the checking for the bonus with debit.

Will this work on a rooted phone? I added it to Google Pay as a payment option, but I can’t set it up to make in-store payments because I’m rooted. I haven’t received any confirmation in my e-mail. Not sure it is worth unrooting my phone.

You’ll need to either remove root or hide root probably. Are you familiar with Magisk systemless root?

I’ve tried Magisk, but it didn’t work right with my apps.

Anyone know the cheapest phone you can buy to get access to Google Pay? These offers seem to pop up regularly but I’m an iPhone owner

I have an Android emulator on my Macbook and was able to add my Quicksilver to Google Pay.
Here’s hoping it nets the $25! If you have an Apple computer, I use Bluestacks, it is free.

Offer doesn’t pop up in my CapOne app

Went ahead and added my Quicksilver and Sony card to GPay anyways

Alex

Not even a single transaction requirement? I went ahead and added Quicksilver card to Google Pay.

Ron

yeah I am wondering too.. what if you have a zero balance so if this offer works now you have $25 credit in account?

FC
FC

I’ve had this happen twice. When I have a negative balance (because I pay my balance in full and then I get a refund on purchases), seems like Capital One will issue a check after 1-2 statements. I didn’t any notice. It just happens. I see a “credit balance refund” in my account and a check comes shortly after. So it’s possible, you might a check later…

TravelingTricks.com

I will second that they have sent out checks for a negative balance after two months. If you have a balance, they will apply it.

John555

Will the credit be applied to a zero balance?

anthonyjh21

Yes I have a negative $25 balance right now.

Anyone else having issues adding their C1 card to G-pay?
