Asking for a bonus is unfortunately no longer working. Congrats to everybody who got the $100!
Charles Schwab offers a $100 bonus when you open a new checking account. Even though it’s a hard pull to open the account, it’s still made our best bank account bonus because of the fact that there is no monthly fees or international ATM fees plus you get ATM fee reimbursements. The other day I mentioned that it’s worth asking for the $100 bonus if you didn’t sign up using the offer. Reader rurouni572 has taken it one step further, they opened their account back in 2013 and asked if they could receive the $100 bonus as well.
A customer service representative came back and said while they couldn’t apply that bonus they could instead give a $125 bonus for being a loyal member. Obviously there is no guarantees this will work and you shouldn’t expect it to, but I think this highlights the type of service Charles Schwab likes to commit to. I think it’s also a good demonstration on why it’s always good to ask when the worst outcome you can receive is somebody just saying no.
