Chase Adds Select Charities To ‘Pay Yourself Back’ 1.5 Redemption Options

Chase has quietly added select charity organizations to the 1.5/1.25 cents cashout Pay Yourself Back feature on the Sapphire Reserve/Preferred cards. The following charitable organizations are currently eligible for Pay Yourself Back:

  • Feeding America
  • World Central Kitchen
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Equal Justice Initiative
  • Leadership Conference Education Fund
  • NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund
  • National Urban League
  • Thurgood Marshall College Fund
  • United Negro College Fund
  • International Medical Corps
  • American Red Cross
  • United Way

Terms: To ensure your charitable donation purchase is eligible for Pay Yourself Back, please donate directly to the charity’s parent organization. Local chapters may not be eligible for Pay Yourself Back.

Nice additional option. Since it’s done directly with the charity, you’ll get the regular tax write-off too. All other PYB options remain the same, it’s now:

  • Grocery Stores
  • Dining (includes restaurants, takeout, and eligible delivery services)
  • Home improvement stores, such as Home Depot and Lowes
  • Select charities

We reported that the Pay Yourself Back might not be entirely tied to COVID, and this charity addition makes sense, potentially, as a long-term Pay Yourself Back option. We’ll have to wait until October to get a better feel for what Chase has in store over the long term.

Is it correct that the 1.5x PYB with CSR is only guaranteed until September 30? Or December 31st?

And corporate America hasn’t for the last several elections? Regardless of your political affiliations, it’s obvious both sides of politicians are bought and paid for.
