Chase Checking Customers: Send $5 Starbucks Giftcard, Get $5 Giftcard For Free [Repost]

Update 12/19/18: Deal is still available, hat tip to reader Drew.

The Offer

  • Chase is offering checking customers a free $5 Starbucks gift card when they use the eGift feature in the Chase app. For example, send a friend a $5 Starbucks gift card and you’ll also receive a $5 Starbucks gift card

The Fine Print

  • Must be enrolled in quick pay
  • Deal is for first users of Chase’s new eGift feature
  • Won’t work on combined business/personal accounts

Our Verdict

Basically $10 in Starbucks credit for $5. Not a huge deal, but every bit adds up. Annoying that it won’t work on combined accounts, I wish Chase did more to fix those issues.

Where in the Chase app is the eGift feature?

Ahh…THAT’s what you meant by it not working on combined accounts. 🙂

I have two online accounts. One has just my personal accounts, the other has personal and business accounts.

When will the free gc send back to me?

Will this work on Business checking accounts that have Zelle attached but not a combined login?

I went through the eGift process (stopped short of actually sending the GC) and there was no mention of a free GC for me. Should the app confirm it somewhere?

I did the same, and stopped because there was no mention of a gift card for the sender; just tried it again, and got an e-mail from Starbucks confirming that both the sender (me) and recipient (husband) had received $5 gift cards. So apparently it DOES work 🙂

Worked for me. Was kind of hard to find, but got it done. Instant arrival for the 2nd gift card.

Does it require that the receiver should be a Chase QP user?

Eric

Nope – I sent it via a Finn account (in the regular Chase app) to a friend with just an email address…worked like a charm!

I have a checking account with credit card. I see only 3 chae offers for 10% off at Lowe’s, Olive Garden and Staples. I don’t see the option of egift. Am I missing something?

I see the egift option on the website. will that work?

Worked for me too. There won’t be any confirmation in the process but an extra email with the $5 code will be delivered.

worked! took me a while to find it but click on the 3 bars on the top left, scroll down to the More section and click on Gifting, select Send a gift then Send a Starbucks gif card. You won’t see a mention of the deal but they’ll email you the $5 instantly.

This worked instantly for me as well. There is no mention of it in the Chase Mobile app. Free coffee!

Well, I don’t have a business account “currently” but I had one in the past. I don’t see anything in the app about this gift option, is this why? Like when I click on the 3 bars settings tab the first thing on top is accounts but I only have 1 account wih chase now. The business account has been closed for like 5-6 months now
