Update 12/19/18: Deal is still available, hat tip to reader Drew.
The Offer
- Chase is offering checking customers a free $5 Starbucks gift card when they use the eGift feature in the Chase app. For example, send a friend a $5 Starbucks gift card and you’ll also receive a $5 Starbucks gift card
The Fine Print
- Must be enrolled in quick pay
- Deal is for first users of Chase’s new eGift feature
- Won’t work on combined business/personal accounts
Our Verdict
Basically $10 in Starbucks credit for $5. Not a huge deal, but every bit adds up. Annoying that it won’t work on combined accounts, I wish Chase did more to fix those issues.

I can confirm that this no longer works. I tried this on Wednesday January 30, 2019. I was not emailed a $5 starbucks gift card for trying this promotion.
Tried it 12/23. No bonus email as of 12/25. Seems dead
Tried in the 24th, no email 10 mins later so I guess this is dead
did it today 12/24, and did not get starbucks card. perhaps ended?
Didn’t see the offer. Got extra $5.
No mention of offer when I used the gift feature on Chase Mobile App. Tried it anyway since I read comments saying they didn’t see it either but it worked for them. Got the bonus through e-mail a few minutes after sending eGift 🙂
Yes didn’t even work for me either having a combined biz and personal login
Had to join QP/Zelle, totally worth it. Thanks, Doc.
Thanks. It worked for me this morning.
Thanks DoC, worked like a charm!
