Chase Has Closed Applications For The Ritz-Carlton

Update: Working link found here.

Chase has removed all the application links for the Chase Ritz-Carlton card. Marriott and SPG will be officially unifying on August 18th. When the merger was initially announced it was stated that  (regarding what cards would be issued by who) “super-premium consumer and small business co-branded products from American Express and mass consumer and premium consumer co-branded products from JPMorgan Chase”. Then American Express said they would continue to issue a mass consumer card into the future, so I assumed that would be the case with Chase & and a super premium card as well. It looks like Chase will continue to service existing Ritz-Carlton cards, but they will not issue any new cards.

Any other cards likely to die? Chase Marriott Biz, maybe?

I applied using the link here and got the “Thank you for your request. we need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision by U.S. mail. This could take up to 30 days. ”

Always been automatically approved so never seen this before and this would also be my first luxury card so hyped up on adrenaline/anxiety.

With this being discontinued, you think I should lean more to the negative side or think it could still get approved?

UScreditcardguides also provides a trick to apply the card, lower the CL to $1800 and get the AF refunded for the first two years.

Applied for the Ritz a couple of weeks ago because I had a feeling it was disapearing soon & was denied for too many recent accounts. I’m like 19/24, 15/12. Wasn’t even going to try recon, but maybe now should?

why not, but the only thing preventing me are the shutdown stories. the risk TO ME personally is too great. i pass on this. but plenty of pple survive so ur call. recon = eyes on account.

with that stat i wouldn’t even try unless you’re moving some credit over from another account but i would usually lower credit limit and then apply for the card. starting of this month i got WOH with $10,900 lowered it right away to $5k got approved for Ritz carlton card today with $13,900 and sent the SM to lower it to $10k right away.

Yeah I have the old IHG with a $24k limit and the Amazon card with a $3k limit, neither of which I care about. Also a Marriott Biz, but that’s a separate dept so I don’t think they’d look at that. I’m not really worried about a shut down since player 2 has the UR cards. More that I don’t want to waste the 20 mins on hold with recon & have to explain why I have every cc I have.

That’s depressing but expected. Didn’t expected them to pull the application this quickly though.

Anxiously awaiting your analysis on how to proceed given this and the now-confirmed-via-reddit bonus restrictions.

while this is a crap situation, i think we need a side by side comparison table of all the new anti churn language and cross reference to see what makes sense for new CC apps.

heres an example:

now, new ritz CC is dead except for the leaked link which i hate because its a huge flag for chase to filter and put eyes on ur account. in any case, so if amex will implement the rumored “no amex lux bonus if you currently hold or have recently held the Ritz-Carlton card” then im not sure if the ritz would be worth it depending on your needs. 2 free nites is nice but vs the 125k amex lux bonus though??? wow dude. i would rather have 125k starriott.

meaning, now that anti churning rules are across institutions, the game is totally changing.

i wish i had the time to think this through.

You’ve had months to apply and you people are this upset about it?! I guess I don’t understand what the reason was to put it off. It’s just a credit card, and it’s not under 5/24.

Nothing in the pricing or terms indicates that the sign-up bonus still exists.

I think that information just isn’t shown on the application page. If you click into the app page for an active chase card you’ll see it also doesn’t show the signup bonus information there either.

Chances are probably good the bonus that was offered yesterday is still valid.

Remember, Chase doesn’t typically include the bonus in the application itself. From the old card landing page (which includes the link from above):
2 Complimentary Nights after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months from Account Opening.
