Chase Sapphire Preferred Increased Bonus To 60,000 Points, Annual Fee Not Waived

Update 3/19/19: Some readers have been able to successfully match to this higher point bonus. Because the annual fee is not waived in this deal and it was waived in the previous deal Chase isn’t calling it a bonus match, but they are offering some people courtesy points of 10,000 with the annual fee still waived. Obviously this is YMMV so if you don’t get the match/points courtesy just move on.

Also worth checking to see if you’re eligible for the 70,000 bonus before applying for this 60,000 point offer.

Update 3/18/19: As promised this offer is now available online. The deal is showing up for myself (Will) but not Chuck, so you might want to try opening it incognito mode if it’s not working for you.

The Fine Print

Our Verdict

Previously the bonus on this card was 50,000 points with the $95 annual fee. Given that points are worth a minimum of 1¢ when redeemed for statement credit this bonus is at least $5 better. For most people the bonus is even better than that as most get more than 1¢ in value from either transfer partners or by using the Chase travel portal (points are worth 1.25¢ with this card or 1.5¢ if you hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve). The main problems with this offer are the 48 month rule and 5/24 rule. Some people will find the Chase Sapphire Reserve better value even with the high annual fee due to the other benefits it provides.

That being said if you’re under 5/24 and prefer the Sapphire Preferred to the Sapphire Reserve then this is the best offer I see Chase offering in the short term. Because of that we will be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses. If you have any questions about Chase cards, I’d recommend reading this post first as chances are they have already been answered there.
