  • Annual fee of $99 is applied to your first billing statement

Our Verdict

This deal is basically $101 + 10,000 points when you take into account the annual fee, considering you can get 50,000 points and redeem that for $500 in gift cards ($450 in cash value if you resold the gift cards for 90% of face value, which would net you $351 after the annual fee compared to $191 with this deal) this deal isn’t very attractive at all. The main upside is that the spending requirement is much lower at only $500 total. The main reason people are interested in the Southwest cards is for the companion pass as well, and this bonus certainly won’t help with that.

Most people would be able to meet that minimum spend requirement with their regular spending/manufactured spending but for those that don’t engage in that sort of stuff this might be a semi interesting offering. It’s certainly better than all of the $100 cash bonuses you see, a full list of the best cash bonuses can be viewed here.

It also looks like Chase and Southwest are pretty intent on split testing a bunch of different offers to see what converts best. We’ll have a list of all the different offers and the terms of each offer available later today.

Hat tip to readers Alex for letting us know about this offer (and making this site better as a result) and  Running With Miles for posting before me
