Chase Spending Offers On Marriott, Hyatt, IHG & Southwest

The Offers

No direct links, check your e-mails (might be able to use this link to see if you’re eligible)

  • Chase has sent out some targeted spending bonuses on some of their cards. Offers are until March 31st, 2019 and require activation. Offers are as follows:
    • Hyatt: Spend $4,000 on purchases and get an additional 2,000 points (works out to be an extra 0.5x points per $1 spent).
    • IHG: Spend $4,000 on purchases and get an additional 2,000 points (works out to be an extra 0.5x points per $1 spent).
    • Marriott: Spend $4,000 on purchases and get an additional 2,000 points (works out to be an extra 0.5x points per $1 spent).
    • Southwest: Spend $6,000 on purchases and get an additional 3,000 points (works out to be an extra 0.5x points per $1 spent).

Our Verdict

I expect offers will go out on other cards shortly, although this offer sucks so I wouldn’t exactly be holding my breath.

I received this offer for the British Airways Card on 1/8:

Spend $15,000 or more on purchases with your card from January 15- July 31, 2019, and you’ll receive 15,000 bonus Avios.

My email also has the time frame of the promo from 1/15 – 3/31. I got a Southwest $4k for 2k points(which do count towards companion pass)

I got the offer on my Hyatt card. I could get 6000 points by spending $4000 on the freedom unlimited anytime, so this is basically worth nothing to me.

I agree with the folks comparing these parsimonious, miserly Chase offers to what Amex will do from time to time, which can edge toward generous. Thanks Chase, But “No Thanks” Ba Humbug!

Last winter, I won 40k on my AMEX Hilton card after spent $4000. Look this bad offer from Chase…

How is the Hyatt $4000 for 2000 points awful? If you just took the card out you’d need to spend $6k to get 60,000 points. Spend another $9k and you get a free night certificate (worth 15k), 9,000 points, and now additional 2,000 points. 15k spend for 86k points is an awesome deal. This is so underrated assuming you can easily hit the spend by paying your rent with Plastiq.

EDIT: My average Hyatt points redemption is like $.05/point
eg: staying in Austin duing SXSW, and Andaz Papagayo during peak season.

These offers are targeted to existing cardholders, not available for new applicants. They don’t stack with the sign-up bonus.

spend $4,000 to get a reward worth maybe 15 bucks?

Got one on my southwest premier: Use your Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card to make $6,000 in purchases between January 15 and March 31, 2019. Receive 3,000 Rapid Rewards® bonus points — that’s in addition to the points you already earn with your card!

Got it on IHG.

Citi, Amex, Barclays are very good at on going spend bonuses not Chase though.
