SPG Cardholders Check for Bonus Offer, Spend $10k get Bonus 10,000 Points

The Offer

Direct Link (check to see if you are targeted, login required)

Many people just received a bonus offer for their Starwood credit card.

  • Spend $5,000 on your SPG card and get 5,000 bonus SPG points
  • Spend another $5,000 and get another 5,000 bonus points

This is a targeted offer. Seems to be only for the business version SPG, unclear if anyone got in on the personal. (Update: doesn’t seem to work on personal.) Some were able to add the offer to their SPG business card using the link above even though they hadn’t gotten the offer via email. I didn’t have luck with this.

The Fine Print

  • $5,000 or $10,000 spend must be completed by October 15, 2016
  • Max of 10,000 bonus SPG points with $10,000 in spend

Our Verdict

By putting $10,000 spend on the card over the next few months, you’ll get an effective earning rate of 2x everywhere. Most people consider SPG points the MVP, which makes 2x SPG everywhere a great deal.

Biz card, not invited, no offer. Have only had the card for a few months now, got it during the 35k SPG offer.

No target on either mine or my wife’s. Bummer… this sounded spectacular!

Received the offer on my business, then used the link and got it on my wife’s business card. Annual fee will be coming due. Had already decided to keep the cards because rebates via the Amex offers have covered the fee.

I think the key to being targeted was that your annual fee will hit during the promotion. And that makes this a lukewarm deal.

Not the case for my business card and I was targeted.

Here are a few of the terms and conditions: *Qualifying purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents.

So not sure how easy it will be to fulfill requirements

That’s how all purchases are defined, not just for this particular promotion.
