[Expired] Choice Privileges: Complete Two Stays & Earn 8,000 Points

Deal has ended, view more Caesars deals by clicking here.

Update 3/15/22: Deal is back, stays must be completed by May 8, 2022.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Choice Privileges is offering 8,000 points (advertised as a $50 gift card) when you complete two stays by May 8, 2022

The Fine Print

  • Registered members will be awarded a minimum of 5,000 to a maximum of 8,000 bonus points after the second qualifying stay.
  • The number of bonus points awarded depends on the number of base points earned from the two separate qualifying stays, with points varying by hotel.
  • The total of base points plus bonus points awarded, however, will be at least 8,000 points, which is the number of points required to redeem for a $50 gift card from participating retailers.
  • A selection of gift cards is available at the discounted redemption rate of 8,000 points from 01/18/2022 through 03/12/2022. Beginning 03/13/2022, the $50 gift cards will return to their standard redemption rate of 16,000 points. Please see a list of participating retailers here

Our Verdict

Annoying that it requires two stays to trigger the offer.

Note that the new offer omits reference to the Gift Cert entirely, and focuses only on the 8k in points necessary for a free stay.

Also, as of now, the website is NOT updated with these dates…although the android app is.

For me, the 8k points are worth more than $50.

I agree Lynn, and what’s more, the $50 card isn’t worth $50 cash, partly because you could earn CC rewards buying it.

Historically, Choice has done 8k promotions (without mentioning gift cards) in spring and fall, and GC promotions (which also were 8k “under the hood”) in the summer, and would do completely different promotions (such as 2x), if any, during the winter. This year was a change when they did a GC promotion in the winter. We’ll have to see if they’re going to do another GC promotion in the summer like they’ve done historically.

The other thing that was unusual this year is that there was only a few days between when the winter GC promotion ended and when this spring 8k promotion began. I don’t remember any gap that short before, I always remember weeks-long gaps before.

Saw the $50 GC at 8000p option after staying for two separate nights during skiing trips.
It seems this rate is for one GC only. You can only select 1 GC at this rate and the rate is gone after you redeemed once.
Not sure if the rate would came back if stay another two nights. Guess it wouldn’t.

Where do you see the option to redeem points for $50 GC at 8000p? I only see it at 16000p for all GC.
Also, it says “Digital gift cards are currently unavailable” so only physical GC available 🙁

For those with Citi cards that allow transfer to travel partners, this will be a decent way to get some gift cards using ThankYou Reward points at a 1.25 cpp rate.

I have Citi Premier and just checked. 4000 Citi TY pts transfers to Choice Privileges as 8,000 CP pts which can be redeemed for “select $50 gift cards”. Amazon is one of the gift card cards at Choice Privileges, so this feels like a pretty decent deal vs cashing out TY points at 1 cpp. ThePointsGuy values Citi TY points at 1.7 cpp but that’s for transferring to other airline partners and some folks still aren’t flying a whole lot these days. 1.25 cpp feels decent in comparison for cash-like Amazon GCs.

One caveat: the list of $50 gift cards available for 8000 CP points isn’t live at the Choice Privileges page yet, but should be on 1/18/2022 (tomorrow).

Justin, my mind went to the exact same place as yours as soon as I saw the title. 🙂

Well, Choice still doesn’t show a discounted rate for any gift cards as of 9:32am ET, including the Shell card they promote in the offer. Hopefully we’ll get some clarity on the options before much longer–will be good to suss out how this deal can best be utilized.

EDIT: the T&C at https://www.choicehotels.com/choice-privileges/promo/gift-card states that there should be a list right there, but the hyperlink that should be there isn’t yet:

” A selection of gift cards is available at the discounted redemption rate of 8,000 points from 01/18/2022 through 03/12/2022. Beginning 03/13/2022, the $50 gift cards will return to their standard redemption rate of 16,000 points. Please see a list of participating retailers here. “

They are probably just late updating the gift card redemption values. Last time they did this promo I want to say it was all giftcards at 8000 pts for a $50 card. But cannot recall 100%. Just wait and see!

Now do I want to convert my 80k TY points to $1000 amazon credit? 🙂

I’m fairly sure you have to have two stays before you’ll even see the discounted $50 gift cards. You can’t just spend all your points at 8000 per $50 – you have to become “eligible” for it with the corresponding number of stays.

99% sure I was able to see the $50 for 8k pts gift cards on the last several times they ran this promo. I never have redeemed for the gift cards though.
