Citi has quietly started issuing contactless enabled credit cards in the last month or so. Currently it seems that Citi is offering contactless cards to new cardholders and those receiving a replacement card. Unlike other issues Citi hasn’t released full plans for contactless roll out. For example here are the plans from other issuers:
- Bank of America To Begin Issuing Contactless Cards (Aiming For 2020 Nationwide)
- Wells Fargo Launches Contactless Credit & Debit Cards
- Chase Credit Cards Going Contactless [Sapphire Reserve Added]
Previously Citi had offered contactless cards on the Costco portfolio, but this latest roll out sees them being offered across the board. As the number of merchants accepting contactless increases, the demand from consumers has increased.
