Comenity Bank Making Changes To Credit Limit Increases

It looks like Comenity Bank has made some changes to requesting a credit limit increase. It seems you can now request an increase and then either select or leave a checkbox unselected. If you select it then you give them permission to pull your credit report and if left unchecked you don’t. Previously Comenity Bank was a soft pull unless you called in. It also seems like it’s possible to get considerable credit limit increases even without selecting the box. You can read the rules for all card issuers when it comes to credit limit increases.

Have had a card on my total rewards visa with comenity for a few years, just went in and asked for a CLI and was instantly approved from 9,000 to 12,000 without a hard pull. Was painless, the only thing they asked for was my annual income.

I seem to be on their 61 day schedule with $300 bumps for each card. I recently requested CLIs online and did NOT check the box for OverStock, WayFair, HSN, & Eddie Bauer. Here are my results:

Overstock : $3900—>$5900
WayFair : $3900—>$5900
HSN : $2150—>$4150
Eddie Bauer: 7-10 day message since it was 32 days from my last request, which is looks like the 61 day schedule is still holding for me with the CLI change.

Correction: I seem to be on their 61 day schedule with ***$400** bumps for each card

Elder beerman, younkers, bonton, boston store, carson pirie scott… curious to see how the CLI would work on the phone bc previously if you asked for an increase but did not specify an amount it was instantly granted. Then months later you could repeat 2x. 10k-20k-30k…..so now thats a HP?

Amazing – Comenity gave me a 2x increase for Marvel card opened in July + got an email saying $100 back for spending $3500 through Dec 31, 2017. Given that this earns 3% at TRU for GoC cards and i need to get some funds set aside for this, works perfectly well!

when’s the last time you were able to use a CC to purchase GoC @ TRU? and you had zero issues like needing manager approval etc.?

Yep – No issues at all – Have used CC + Apple pay both for the purchases. The manager had to be called i guess to approve purchase of this magnitude, however they did not say anything.

Just stopped by TRU in the evening today, picked up one more just to see if anything changed – Just the same – They needed to get the manager to approve the purchase, there was no issues using CC though.

Marvel card is Synchrony, not Comenity

Thanks Brandon, my bad! I did get confused between these two. However the data point remains that in about 2-2.5 months i was able to get an increase with a soft pull/without a hard pull
