Comenity has sent out letters to Modell’s MVP Visa cardholders letting them know that all accounts will be closed on April 29th, 2020. Comenity will not be providing cardholders with a replacement card. This is likely just the end of the co-branded partnership and Comenity decided not to extend for whatever reason. Given the current crisis it would be nice for the end date to be pushed back or for those that request it to be given a non-branded Comenity card.

The reason could be that Modell’s has filed for bankruptcy. It is liquidating all inventory and closing all its stores.
There is no partnership to extend. Modell’s filed for bankruptcy in March and is closing all their stores.
