The Offer
- Costco is offering their members a $500 Delta gift card for $449.99
The Fine Print
- Costco members only
- Limit 3
Our Verdict
Nice discount for Costco members. You can use up to 3 gift cards per transaction with Delta, or up to 8 over the phone.Â
Seems to be gone already.
Order cancelled, OOS already. Dam
Warning: when you use gift cards to pay for multiple passengers, the gift cards only apply to up to 1 passenger, prompting a “your reservation is not complete yet” on the screen (even though you can see the record locator). Then (if you used multiple cards) you have to figure out which card still has a balance (if any).
An agent needs to split your reservation, but gift cards can still only apply to 1 customer and you have to pay for the rest. Then the agent links them afterwards.
So you might decide to pre-emptively book separately and call just to link, or risk doing what I did.
(Why can’t the UI just work like it says it does?)
Are Delta GCs accepted by other Skyteam airline partners?
You can use them if the ticket is bookable on Delta, WestJet is an example. The issue being there have been reports of difficulty selecting seats and such if you purchase a WestJet flight on Delta’s site, but you can do it.
delta charges 1.5-2x other airlines…so this is a value trap
Anyone know (or can you guess) when this will expire? I’d like to wait until my new SW Chase card arrives to put the spending on it.
never. I’ve never seen a GC (that I bought) expires. Promotion gift is another story. I remember it’s law, but no citation.
(S)he may ask when this promotion will end. I’m having a Costco shop card on my way. Does Costco allow purchasing gift card with Costco shop card?
LoL yeah (S)he/they was/were talking about when the promotion would end
Their deals usually last a week. Probably ends Tuesday night, but don’t quote me on that.
thanks – hopefully my new Chase card will arrive just in time
just a guess, but this doesn’t appear to be a promotion. if you look at gift cards on promotion, it will note the expiration date and the additional amount off. i’d say as long as it’s in stock, the price will hold.
