Credit Card Issuers Suspending Affiliate Programs

A number of credit card issuers are suspending their affiliate programs indefinitely. At this stage it looks like Chase is pulling all business affiliate links and possibly personal links with American Express to pull business links as well. This looks to be a cost cutting measure due to COVID-19. We don’t use credit card links for reasons explained in this post. I suspect if this continues it will cause some of the larger sites to have to let employees go.

Given that card issuers are suspending these programs it’ll be interesting to see what happens to sign up bonuses going forward, if they’ll look to cut those as well to reduce expenses or possibly increase the bonuses but with stricter lending requirements.

That’s why the world is in a pickle…not looking at the negatives. Surprised to see you write this. A lot of over-positiveness comes from Dale Car-na-GEY (real spelling, fraudster) book HOW TO WIN FRIENDS & INFLUENCE PEOPLE.

That’s China CCP thinking too…maintain positivity…so they muzzled the early doctors…many world problems persist…due to people wanting to stay too positive…rather than see reality

Reference to a meme which shows someone venting their spleen, then it’s revealed that they’re at a Wendy’s counter talking to the clerk. Suggestion is that comments are off-topic for the current forum.

Actually? Yes. Although being mean isn’t correct either. But being able to disagree in a civil manner and discuss issues is not something that happens right now.

People that are happy with status quo usually the ones to adopt “don’t say anything bad”.

The drowning man won’t remember any manners. The man sitting smugly in the boat might lecture the drowning man to say please and thank you if he wants to receive any help.

Would you blame the drowning man if after he is saved beats the crap out of the smug man? We are at that point in american politics.

Just visited TPG (wearing full PPE, of course) and found that there are still plenty of credit card offers “from our partners” scattered across the site. I assume they aren’t hawking them for free, so did they get a special deal? Did any of the other credit card hawkers pull their referrals? (sorry, really can’t get myself to look around further)

I hate to see peoples incomes removed in times like these, but credit card affiliate programs are up there with private health insurance, and social media influencers as things the world could do without.

I don’t know if I agree with the health insurance part since I have excellent insurance but I know that most Americans aren’t that lucky.

Influencers and Affliate bloggers can burn though.

Cost cutting reversed – My Citi Prestige annual fee posts in a couple of weeks. Who’s buying airfare, hotels, cruises, or going to town dining out? Will find out if I can convince them to reduce or waive the fee. My travel charges dropped to $0 but I also can’t justify $495 for nothing right now. This too shall pass.

Does “affiliate” also include sites like Credit Karma which “recommends” specific credit cards, seemingly as their major way to keep their site free?

Just gonna throw this in here, since I expect a lot of eyeballs on this DoC post.

Can anyone give me any advice of what’s the best way to unload my ~1million of Chase UR’s (considering I will NOT use them for travel myself) for $$$?

One idea was selling them to a broker, anyone got positive experience with that? (prob hard in this environment now anyway though…)

Trying to get more than the obv 1ct/pt for it.
Any tips greatly appreciated… 🙂

P:S.: I do have the CSR, so could potentially transfer to partners (but once again: won’t travel enough in the foreseeable future to use them myself, since I already got too many other miles/pts to use up)

I’ll buy 100k for $1,100 1.1 cpp if you were offering. Sadly cashed out 130k points in February thinking the MS game would still go strong until summer. But it’s shut down so no MS’ing and I think Chase will tighten up. If that’s too low for you I understand just thought I’d offer. 🙂

My meaning of the MS Game – Buying $1,000 gift cards from Simon Mall and liquidating via Walmart. I did about 650k last year and 200k so far this year.

Also I asked the WM regular cashier I go to about a week ago when I finished off what I had left and she said I was the only one still doing it. That normally there’s about 20 different people in my area that do it.

Not to mention it’s getting pretty difficult to do one WM that’s MS friendly won’t even sell me 1 single one for $999.12 which requires no ID. A cashier who doesn’t like me for whatever reason always bypasses that part goes into a different screen and submits a Suspicious Activity Report. I have other WM’s I know are friendly though just they’re all so far apart. My ID even got banned due to the SAR but I found a workaround and just don’t use my DL anymore.

I’m done MS’ing, definitely not going back to the $500’s, once you have the $1,000 cards it’s hard to go back. Not to mention lenders are going to tighten up.

Sorry was away from this thread for a bit while taking care of other things MickeyMouse

Would generally be interested, but how does it work?
Do I have to give you access to my UR account?
Is there a way to avoid the “who goes first” risk?

10% is ok for me, as long as there is no big risk or major headache involved…

P:S.: you said you cashed out “130k points in February”. How? (since even after selling 100k to you, I’ll have a bunch left)

Email me @ [email protected]

I think something through PayPal as a sale would work and protect both ends.

When I cashed out my points I just took the statement credit because at that point I was MS’ing 8k daily on my 1.5% card so 12k Points. Not anticipating this I just redeemed for a statement credit. I think you can also either get a check or gift cards if you’re not transferring to a partner or booking travel.

Jay - ⒿⒶⓨ 🙈 🙉 🙊 guessing that’s a no? I would consider 1.15 or 1.2 cents per point but that would be the most I’d do if you were interested. I put my email in the post above it’d likely be more like you transferring points to my World of Hyatt account rather than giving me full access to your UR.

MickeyMouse once again sorry for the lag in responses, just busy with other stuff atm.

Anyway, 2 things:
1. looking up the first google link on how to do that (https://thepointsguy.com/guide/transfer-ultimate-rewards-points-hyatt/), it looks like you would have to be an AU on my CC (and be a houselhold member) for me to transfer to you (see point 4 in the link).
2. I still see no real protection going through paypal (I thought about doing tranches to limit the exposure, but in the end everything could theoretically be reversed; even though with your posting history here it seems highly unlikely 🙂 )

Also, a few days ago thx to a comment in a recent DoC post on UR, I now found a way to cash out UR at 1.1cts, even though its a bit cumbersome.

So all in all I think I have to decline your offer, sorry…

The way I was thinking is you create a World of Hyatt account. Transfer the points to your World of Hyatt account. After they are in that account then you can do a point transfer from Hyatt to me.

To create a WOH account and get them over from Chase to your World of Hyatt all in all it takes about 5 minutes.

In the end you’d have my WOH account # that the points were transferred to and if you had another way I’d definitely consider it for 1.15-1.2x.

Anyways that’s the method I was thinking. If that doesn’t sound like it’d work out I understand.
