The Daily getaway deals for 2022 are now live. Offers go on sale at 1:00pm ET each weekday. Unfortunately all of the more popular deals sell out near instantly and are impossible to get. You can view the calendar here.
- 7/27: 20% off Marriott gift cards
A few minutes ago, I received an email from Daily Getaways saying “Your purchase is complete.” The body of the email stated that I had purchased 100k Hilton points. The problem? I made no such purchase. I did, however, purchase 100k Hilton points during their promo in 2019. The email lists the same confirmation number and the same last digits of the credit card I used back in 2019 (a card that has been closed for a year so couldn’t possibly be charged). In the purchase price field, instead of listing an actual purchase price, it says, “%%PURCHASE_PRICE%%.”
I can’t imagine I’m the only one to get such an email. So be aware if you made Daily Getaways purchase in previous years. There must be some glitch sending out emails confirming purchases supposedly in 2022 but based on info from years ago. Now the real question: will I end up with an extra 100k points in my Hilton account?
I got one too. Purchased hilton points in 2019.
Update, got this email today:
“Yesterday, you may have received a purchase confirmation from Daily Getaways although you did not make a transaction. As a past customer of this program, you received this message in error. We apologize for the inconvenience—this confirmation was sent inadvertently as we experienced a technical issue with our email system that re-triggered past purchase confirmations.
We take security very seriously. We assure you that your credit card information is not stored in our database and was only securely passed through the payment processor at the time of your original purchase.
We deeply apologize for the confusion and inconvenience, and want to assure you that you were not charged for any transaction, but were re-sent a copy of the confirmation from a purchase completed over the past few years. Please disregard this communication.”
Tens days? Anyone have previous experience with IHG point purchase?
“Within ten (10) business days of purchase, you will have 100,000 IHG “
I did a few years ago, came faster than that iirc. I had a specific redemption in mind and it worked great for me.
Any data point on how much time it takes to post the points.
I accidentally added the wong IHG number when getting some points (copy paste failure), I entered a 12 digit number, as opposed to the 9 digit format. Any way to contact vendor for correction?
Seems like most of the deals are just buy cheap points, and Hyatt seems to be the best offer here. Is it normally just cheap points?
re Hyatt: Although their points packages were nice, the quantity offered this year was laughably low.
Usually, there’s a mix of prepaid hotel nights, theme park packages and hotel points. Car rental agencies have also offered points in the recent past. The offerings are more limited this year when compared with past years.
With the IHG points, does anyone know if they can be sent to a different person’s number? For instance, can I buy the points but put in my son’s IHG number? Or do they only get sent to one’s own number?
You put in the reward account number you want it deposited to so i think it would work
How hard are we talking? Like there’s no hope?
I don’t recall the exact numbers but I think there’s about a dozen deals available each day. How many people are logging in at the exam time to try and get them? Not sure, but probably in the 10s of thousands. So I’d guess it’s about a 0.1% chance at best.
Essentially no hope. Deals are released in advance so anything worth pursuing has bots ready to go in wiping out the low quantity in seconds.
Exactly. If you think you are going to click through on your phone, credit card in hand, think again. They’re gone instantly.
Do these stack with Amex offers?
No, because they’re not purchased direct from the vendors. This has coded as general travel in the past, though, at least with Chase.
Hard pass this year. Nothing of interest.I thought at least the Hyatt offers were better in the past but my memory is not so good.
Actually only IHG looks marginally worth it.
All the IHG packages today seem to be at .5 cents per point……..that price pops up frequently with IHG promos.
If you’re the type to buy a lot of points each year, I believe this would be in addition to the maximum you can buy directly through IHG.
I haven’t bought points in probably 5 years. Hotels are still able to get easily at a much bigger discount.
I think the IHG deal is marginal for those in the market to buy points as the IHG program has dramatically improved this year and it is more difficult (if at all anymore) to get at this price than it has been in the past.
