Delta Flash Sale: Round Trip To Various Destinations From Seattle Or Boston/New York From 5,000 or 9,000 Miles

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Delta has a new round of flash sales. This time it’s various destinations from the following cities:
    • Boston (from 9,000 miles round trip)
    • New York (from 9,000 miles round trip)
    • Seattle (from 5,000 miles round trip)

Our Verdict

Much better than the standard Delta flash sales, although it’s annoying that they don’t give a full list of eligible routes and dates.

I’m not a Delta cheerleader but I think some of the comments paint an unfair picture of this particular promo. ‘In all honesty’ it’s quite easy to get solid value on SkyMiles out of Seattle (a focus market for Delta). We booked a handful of Non-stop,!main cabin tickets from Seattle to San Diego over MLK weekend (at the best times of day for departure and return) for 10k points and $10 tax) each RT. Delta cash price $240 (similar flights on Alaska $350). So, 2.3 cents per mile, right? I also noticed that the Comfort Plus upgrade for some of the SEA/SAN flights was just 500 miles each way. Seem like really good redemptions to me.

In all honesty, Delta offers are making frontier and sun country airlines look more and more appealing

Yeah, if you’re willing to leave the middle of the 3rd week of January in a 3 day window. SEAPHX is almost always 4500-5k skymiles in BE anyway (one way).

What’s with the 3 day travel period, e.g. “Travel Period starts 01/19/2020 and ends 01/22/2020” for SEA-SAN? Useless sale for most. Thanks for posting though.

I think this is largely a marketing tactic by Delta to make people anchor their values of Skypesos much higher than a reasonable redemption would be.

Think about it. You throw up a sale or two with a trivial number of discounted tickets being sold. Everyone in the blagonets picks up on the buzz.

“Wow neat, seems like these can be really valuable, let me pick up a credit card and get invested in the Delta program”-noobs

“Oh wow, missed it, better hold out for the next sale, boy better keep earning miles too just in case”- people holding lots of skymiles

Yeah, sure, YOU might see past it. But not everyone’s as cunning as you.
