Disney+ Streaming Giftcards Now Work At Disney Parks

Disney+ streaming gift cards now work at Disney parks as well. And Disney gift cards also work for Disney+ (as was always the case). The two gift cards are now interchangeable.

For years, people have gotten confused between Disney gift cards and Disney+ gift cards. The former are for Disney parks and the latter for the streaming service. There was a well-known story covered in the media about a family who bought $10,000 in Dinsey+ gift cards for their Disney park vacation. It’s great that they now simplified it.

Here can find the new terms on this page:

Can I use a Disney+ Gift Card like a regular Disney Gift Card?

Yes, a Disney+ Gift Card activated in the US will function like a Disney Gift Card activated in the US. A Disney+ Gift Card activated in Canada will function like a Disney Gift Card activated in Canada. Disney+ Gift Cards from other countries will continue to only be redeemed for Disney+ in those countries.

I was a bit hesitant to write this post based on a vague terms update, but found some Facebook reports which confirm this is actually true.

If anyone has any Disney+ gift cards, you can easily test it out by applying them to your Disney account and seeing if it works. Those gift cards just got more valuable!

As I understand, the two uses are still bifurcated – once applied to Disney+ you can’t use it for the parks; once applied to your regular Disney account you can’t use it for the streaming service. (This is unlike when Apple made the change and made one singular Apple and iTunes balance.)

Here is what the updated Disney Gift Card page looks like:

Until a few days ago, here is what that page looked like:
