Our Verdict

Topcashback runs this offer with us semi regularly, this is the highest sign up bonus they have offered. Previous best was $20 and that was also only available to our readers, normal bonus is $10 or nothing. The reason the bonus is higher than normal is that we don’t receive anything if you sign up for this offer, instead we’ve passed the full $25 to our readers. We always try to do these types of deals with companies, but very few show any interest. One of the reasons I love Topcashback is they have the same mindset as we do, they give users 100% of a store’s commission back as cash back. They make money through separate advertising banners  ‘our list stores’ among other ways. I find that Topcashback rates are consistently better than other shopping portals and it’s the portal I use the most often.

In addition when you cash out you can also get bonuses if you cash out for something other than cash:

  • Amazon Gift Card (3% bonus)
  • American Express® Reward Card (3% bonus)
  • Gap eGiftCard (5% bonus)
  • Nike eGiftcard (5%)
  • Hotels.com eGiftcard (5%)
  • Petco eGiftcard (5%)

If you want to see more brands & websites offer our readers increased bonuses like this then there are two things you can do:

  • Sign up if you don’t have have an account
  • Share this with others

You can view our full review of Topcashback by clicking here. I know some readers have had issues in the past, keep in mind money earned from Topcashback doesn’t become payable until they receive the money from the merchant so the wait times can be longer than other sites. I think the increased cashback rates are worth the wait times, but YMMV. As always make sure you follow our tips to ensure portals track correctly. If you have any unresolved issues with TCB then submit a support request here. They will also be in the comments section answering any questions readers might have.

I just saw this–looks like I missed the August 6 deadline for the bonus. Is there any reason to sign up now or should I wait until another bonus is offered? Thanks!

Usually TCB is pretty good but like others have said for bigger purchases they do not track well. I have had no problems getting anything below $20 in cash back but when it goes over that, it fails real quick. Still fighting for 5 claims with them and two of them they have already blamed the merchant. I wouldn’t recommend doing big amount purchases through them. Just my opinion though.

Can this sign-up bonus be combined with the recent Best Buy $15 freebie offer? I sent a message to their Twitter account and I haven’t gotten a reply yet. Anybody else have any experience?

Looks like that offer is over now, so question is moot. https://www.topcashback.com/best-buy-freebie/

I disagree with the comment about problems on large ticket items. I purchased a $4000 lawn mower thru the TCB portal and it paid fine. I have a hotel issue right now being reviewed with IHG but I believe the problem is with IHG, not TCB because they cut individual receipts on 4 rooms rather than one master receipt.

My experience with TCB couldn’t be worse. My account seemed to be hacked and the cashback was redeemed by a different person. I contacted TCB CSR and was told they would investigate the case. Days later I found my account was closed by TCB and since then they no longer responded my inquiries.

Not sure how you correlated me with another person but this was my first ever comment posted on DoC.

My first experience with Topcahsback last year was terrible. They had a 20% cash back rate on HP.com — double that of other portals. I bought a couple laptops and they ultimately denied all of the claims (months later). I never got a good reason other than the “other marketing channel” excuse, which I have no way to verify. That’s about $600 I felt they cheated me out of.

Their service department even told me cash back should thought of as a bonus and not a reason to make a purchase. That statement does not show a lot of confidence.

After reading positive experiences on DoC, I tried them again recently on some smaller deals and a larger Life Extension promo and have claimed about $200. They made verifying my identity a hassle but eventually paid out.

As others have said, be wary on expecting payouts on the purchase of large ticket items.

Bruce, thanks for your DP. Likewise i cannot reiterate it more, beware of TCB on large ticket items. There will always be people who get lucky and get paid. But i am seeing soooooo many large tickets getting denied that it seems a pattern and not an exception.

Hi Peter,

There’s nothing lucky about it. We see thousands and thousands of transactions tracking every day/hour and usually, the cashback not tracking is down to the browser you are using or settings on your computer. If you would like to get in touch with us about your account then we’d be happy to help.

If there was a general issue with a retailer, we would know about it or you should mention it to us if you don’t think we know. So we can check the retailer over to make sure everything is working from our end.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Bruce

If you were told this was give to ‘another marketing channel’ then it’s likely a coupon code was used or you had multiple tabs open that could also have taken the last referral of your purchase. We haven’t cheated you out of anything though, we don’t get paid for the orders you make, we pass everything on to you so we didn’t make anything from your cashback not tracking.

Cashback should be treated as a bonus and not a guarantee. Whilst we always try our best to recover any cashback which is declined or untracked, the final decision is not ours as to whether the retailer pays this or not.

Thanks,
Jack

Heads up to new and current users of TCB –
I’ve been using them for years and have a total of ~$1,500 cashback earned, but as of recent they have been renegging on a lot of their terms with many merchants.

Usually they would try to avoid paying higher cashback items initially, but I’d file a missing claim and all will be well. Now they are claiming the following on claims:

“The reason given to us for the decline was ‘another marketing channel.’

The most common reasons behind this declined resolution is either that TopCashback was not the last referred click when making a transaction, or that a coupon/promotional code was used that was not listed on our site.”

Obviously since I’ve been using them for so long I’m always reading their disclaimers and small text. No promo codes were used in these purchases and no other portals were even considered.

So be warned, TCB is not what is used to be and I for one will be seeking another portal.

Hi Peter,

Would you like to elaborate on some of the bad experiences you have had? I can see that you are replying to a lot of members on here but nothing about specific issues you’ve had. I’d be happy to help or try to get this turned around for you.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Mazz,

I’m sorry to hear that this is the case but we don’t get given a solid reason most of the time as to what ‘Another marketing Channel’ would be and although it’s something we try to get for you, some retailers aren’t always able to pass this information over to us which is why we can only offer tips and suggestions.

Ultimately, it is up to the retailer to pass over any cashback and we have to respect their decision if they do decline cashback claims.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for taking the time, but unfortunately, for a lack of better terms, this is a bullshit response. I’ve contacted merchants in the past when you guys did this and they either did not receive an inquiry from TCB or they approved such inquiry.

Jack, please review your current BBB page for more information and similar complaints. I have also provided click records, browser history, and receipts in the past as well – your portal only pays out on small ticket items if ever. For my last hotel stay(Agoda booking), I fought with you guys for 8 months after completing the stay to finally pay out!

Everytime you guys decline a claim you always say, “it’s not guranteed, sorry.” Nice little escape hatch you have there in the name of greed. TCB is going downhill in rep.

Hi Mazz,

Please do be aware that not all retailer’s customer care are aware of how cashback works as this is often dealt with by a different team and is more likely to be the case here as to why they didn’t see a message from us. Any reasons that we give to you on your claim, have come from the retailer and not a decision made by us.

Although you have provided us with browser history and click records, this still isn’t proof to us that a purchase was made through TopCashback and if the retailer doesn’t see us as the last referrer of your purchase, we won’t be getting anything to pass on to yourself. We don’t decide this ourselves, we only pass on the details we have been given. Cashback isn’t a guarantee and should be treated as a bonus to your purchase but I’m not sure how this makes us greedy since we don’t get paid anything for the purchases you make. We give it all to yourself.

Thanks,
Jack

Mazzy, try not to bur yourself by trying to activate multiple cashback sites. Clearly it isn’t working, you’re frustrated, and blaming TCB when you should blame yourself for trying to be shady and game the system which is otherwise good to us.
