Our Verdict

Ok, so let’s break this down:

  • Dining program, join & spend $25 and get 2,000 miles + one qualifying credit. This is fairly self explanatory, just make sure to leave a post dine review as well. 2,000 miles is the standard sign up bonus.
  • Shopping portal. Basically just need to spend $50, shouldn’t be too difficult to find a store that you need to make a purchase at anyway. Double check cashbackmonitor to make sure there aren’t any other portals offering way more.
  • Wines. If you purchase 6 wines you’ll get 3,000 bonus miles (the other 3,000 posts after second shipment) for $41.95 plus qualifying credit. Second shipment is a lot more expensive.
  • 1800 Flowers. Not sure what the cheapest way to do this is? At least you can get 30x miles per $1 as well. You can get $15 off $50 with AmEx Offers.

Honestly I don’t really think this promotion is worth the effort, especially with American Airlines having such bad award availability at the moment. I guess if you want the wines and the 1800 flowers then it isn’t so bad, but otherwise I’d just give this a miss. If you decide to go for it, share your strategy in the comments.

Actually the more I think about it, the better the deal actually is. Cost for shopping portal is basically $0 (maybe $0.50 compared to what you could get with another portal), cost for wine is $42, dining is $25 and then flowers is whatever. If you value miles at 1Ā¢ each then you’re basically getting all the items from the partners for free.

@Superchurn, can you let me know how you contacted AA about the Vinesse? I just called AAdvantage and the rep basically told me there’s nothing he can do. Vinesse told me the same thing and pointed me to a small Terms & Conditions link at the bottom of the AA promo landing page which has the 21 days verbiage.

The offer for 3,000 miles expired but here is a link to their current offer– https://www2.vinesse.com/offer/index.cfm?src=aampb2017

You can see the Terms & Conditions link at the bottom of the page.

I had the same problems with Vinesse. Talk about deceptive advertising! Like others on this thread, I cancelled a few days after my second shipment so that I would not get charged for a third. Why would Vinesse require us to an active member 21 days after the deposit of the shipment? So they they either don’t have to award you the miles if you cancel after buying their wines. On the flip side, if you forget to cancel, they can charge you for another shipment. No warning other than fine print in the terms and conditions. Of course you can always return the shipment… for a 15% fee plus shipping.

American Airlines should dump them as a partner.

My bonus still hasn’t posted yet. Called AA about it once, they said wait 90 days, called them today, 100 days later, they said only 2 merchants posted my miles…had to spend about an hour on the line with AA, Vinesse, and 1-800-flowers fighting with them to get my miles. Horrible experience with Vinesse…they basically refused to give me my miles, claiming I was disqualified because I wasn’t a member for 21 days, which they claimed was in the offer somewhere.

1-800-flowers said they would post the miles, I guess my AA# had a typo in it

But Vinesse flat out refused, so I reported them to AA and told them about them trying to screw people out of their miles.

AA insisted I upload all 4 receipts for all 4 transactions…luckily I foresaw this kind of bullshit and documented everything, so here’s hoping for a smooth post

We’ll see what eventually posts though…

What number did you call for AA? My points didnā€™t post either. I did 3 of the 1800 Flowers didnā€™t post. What number did you call for them? This is irritating.

Thank you!

just their AAdvantage Customer Service number on the website. Make sure i exit the automated system and get a real person on the line though.

but i had to call and yell 6 times before they finally all posted.

Vibesse refused to post the miles because they claimed the account must be open for so many days or it doesn’t count, and we’re terribly rude too

I made that AAs problem since they advertised the promo. Finally they clawed the miles from Vinesse.

1800flowers miles didn’t post because their banner ad gave bad info in how to type the promo code and AA number in, so that got ironed out eventually

I literally had to call in 6 times and yell though. Totally not worth the hassle and i’ll be steering clear of these kinds of promos in the future

Do you remember why the 800 Flowers promo code was? I called and they said they can correct it. I took a screenshot of my order but I canā€™t find it. Thanks

So just a word of warning on Vinesse. I subscribed and received my initial shipment. The next shipment date was set for just two weeks later. Originally I pushed it back online but then decided that I didn’t want to forget to cancel, so I just went ahead and cancelled online. I was supposed to receive an email confirming cancellation, and when I didn’t receive one, I called in. While my confirmation had gone through, I was informed that I wouldn’t receive my 3,000 miles for signing up, as the terms and conditions state that you need to have your account active for 21 days past when you receiving your initial shipment. The tricky thing is that they’ll send your second shipment before those 21 days are up.

Here are the terms:
“Member must be active for 21 days following the deposit of their shipment in order for bonus miles to be awarded. Additionally, if the promotion is expired or a mileage account is not provided, no enrollment miles will be awarded to the member’s account.”

I would make sure that you push the second shipment date back beyond the 21 days and wait for your 3,000 miles to post before cancelling. I don’t know whether or not my initial order will meet the qualifications for the AA 10,000 bonus miles promo for having used a new partner. But I think in the future, I will avoid any promos that require me to sign up for subscription services.

Does AA send out any updates on where you are in this? e.g. if you did a $25 dining purchase, and also made a $50 purchase through their portal, does it give any indication that those are satisfied?

Also, I just bought flowers using an AA code but it was AA54 from another email (didn’t see this page on DOC and couldn’t see any terms).

Thanks

If I use a 1800Flowers gift card to pay, will it still count? I thought I read it was a problem somewhere. If anyone knows I’d appreciate the input!

The terms state it has to be marketed offer for the 800flowers and not just a simple order of $50 or higher

1-800-Flowers.com Qualifying Transaction: during the Promotion Period, American Airlines will market offers (a ā€œ1-800-Flowers.com Offerā€) from 1-800-Flowers.com through American Airlinesā€˜ marketing channels (AA.com, Email, eSummary statement, etc.). The marketing communication will contain a link to a website that will allow an American Airlines AAdvantageĀ® member to redeem the 1-800-Flowers.com Offer. Can you still get the 3000 AA bonus mile from vinesse if you did it before?
