Ebates: Triple Cashback Promotion

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Ebates is offering triple cashback on selected merchants for the next three days

Our Verdict

These types of promotions make me realize how bad Ebates normal rates are. For example eBags is at 15%, up from 5% but other portals are still offering higher rates at 16%. GAP is at 6%, other portals are at 10%. Some deals are good though, e.g IHG express is at 12% and other portals are at 5%. Ebates have also frozen my account again for absolutely no reason, this is the second time they have done it. As always there might be some good deals here, but please make sure you use something like cashbackmonitor rather than just relying on ‘triple cash back!!!’.

Combine this with the $5 for $55 rebate. Could help some.

Ebates rates are poor and their cashback reporting sucks too. I’ve had to email their cust serv a lot of times asking where was my money. Retailmenot FTW.

Ebates froze my account and clawed back money(OM gift cards) even though their computer system was the guilty party.

I prefer Mr Rebates.

In any case, always compare sites, just like the post says

I usually use Ebates at Christmas time… they have really good rates then. Makes me really angry that they keep freezing Will’s account… it’s just plain wrong!! John 3:16

I have a soft spot for Ebates and I like that I almost never have to wonder if my purchase gets tracked. My best returns were ordering computers for the shop when they had Dell at 15%. I have noticed that they are lower than others sites more often lately.

If this was around black friday 2017, Topcashback had dell at 22%. I bought a few things from Dell myself. I find if you do incognito mode and purchase after clicking, most portals do a good job of tracking. ebates isnt unique, just most highly commercialized

I used to use Ebates for Raise. Never really have had tracking issues with them but since they only issue reimbursements 4 x a year (and rates are rarely the top) I stopped using them. No Raise, Giftcards.com, or Giftcardmall.com on this one (not that I expected there to be)…moving along…

I got an eBags 20% cash back with Topcashback last week with eBags 25% off prices. With eBags you have be patient until a good cash back or airline point multiplier is available.

For ebags, I usually wait for the Amex offer and combine. The best deal I got from ebates was when they had 16% CB at Staples, price matched and got the CB on the original price. They also have good CB at discountmags, 40% is pretty common for them.

More important to me is that they track consistently and I rarely have to worry or check back on it.

Little hint on that as well that I’ve had success on. Go on their site from time to time and be logged in. You’ve probably bought stuff before and gotten a couple bucks in rewards sitting there. Every time I start to “look” at bags on their website and close out without buying, they seem to send me a email adding $10 of Rewards to my account about a week later.

Disclosure, I only shop there maybe twice a year when Amex offers, portals, % offs and my possiable need for luggage in a the distant future arises.

That is what happen to me. I put a Travelpro Platinum Elite International carry on bag in the cart and eBags sent 10 dollars to my eBags rewards account. So, I bought the bag on a 25% off day with the 10 buck credit, Amex 15 buck offer and $42.70 cash back. Total cost of ~$167.

A couple months ago ebags was doing 20x UR with the Freedom portal. Bought a 1k tumi carryon. Easy 21k UR which I’ll easily get $500 in value from.
