Our Verdict

We added the direct link now. Goes live at 11 am ET. Max this out with a $667 purchase. Remember to use a shopping portal for eBay purchases; there are a few portal bonuses ongoing as well.

Let us know if you see any good deals and we’ll try adding them below. There’s always postage stamps if you are out of those. You can also get these certified refurbished Airpods from Best Buy for $115.59 after the discount.

no gift cards?

Never ever. Ever.

Unless they’re in a category other than the gift cards category. But you’ll find most of the GCs that are in other categories have hefty markups.

One of the portal bonuses is Ibotta. They give 1.5% back and are offering a $2 “back to school” bonus. Any online purchase will trigger it… Ebay is just one option. Have a blessed day!!

And I just bought a roku ultra not even 2 days ago.
Do you know of a way I can have ebay apply the discount on my purchase tomorrow?
The whole hassle of returning and waiting for a refund is just that; too much hassle.

They won’t. I even tried this once right after I purchased something. eBay told me I had to request a refund from the seller and then immediately purchase it again with the coupon code. I even tried to escalate it and complain to eBay via supervisors.

Anyone else get a $10 off $30 expiring 8/9? I wonder if these will stack?

On prime day when they had a similar deal it was either or, you couldn’t stack.

anyone know how sellers choose to participate in these promotions? i’m guessing they have to pay a overall fee or per listing to opt in?

This one is Sitewide and should apply to all sellers.

All sellers pay a 10% Fee + 2.9% for accepting paypal payment. “Top Rated Plus” sellers get a 20% Discount off their eBay fees, meaning they only pay 8%.

Top Rated discount was reduced to 10% earlier this year, I believe.

Sellers who pays for a basic eBay Store ($19.99 per month) only pay 4% fees on sales…

No true. 9.15% fee most items.

4% fee is only applied on a few limited categories, not all, even you subscribe to a store. For most categories you will still need to pay a seller fee of 6.15%~9.15%.

Yeah, I think musical instruments was about all they had. Now some media has jumped up to 12% fees starting this month.

PC Laptops and Netbooks is 4%, that’s the main category I sell in…

No, they don’t opt in for site wide. I sell stuff on Ebay at times, and am not charged anymore when a % off or bucks promotion is going on. In fact I am thinking if I have some stuff I want to sell tomorrow, since it will be easier to get rid of with the promotion going on.

eBay must be desperate. There’s no way they’re making money on this.

I wonder what their motivation is

You are correct.

For me as a seller I’m paying them roughly 13% (considering eBay owns Paypal) per transaction. I don’t increase my prices for these Sitewide sales. So technically I guess they’re losing that 2% on single transactions up to $666, anything over that they probably break even or make a little money.

I’m guessing it’s to generate interest in eBay and if people see things they like they’ll keep coming back, but overall eBay has easily made about 5k profit from me alone this year with all the fees.

Ebay no longer owns PP

Actually, eBay doesn’t own PayPal. They spun it off into a separate company years ago.

Weird, never really heard about it. I’ve been selling since 2014 and I’ve thought they were together.

So in that case eBay is covering 5% rather than just 2%, they’ve had a lot of these Sitewide sales recently I wonder what their big plan is and why they’re doing them?

eBay has definitely made thousands in profit from me each year.

You don’t pay $19.99 per month for a Store subscription to get your final value fee reduced from 10% to 4%??

That’s not accurate.

My mistake. PC Laptops and Netbooks is 4%, that’s the main category I sell in…

Ebay is paying for customer acquisition in an attempt to increase market share. A lot of online competition out there, especially from the 500 lb. gorilla called Amazon.

The standard speculation around here is that ebay does this to goose their quarterly revenue, even if that comes at the expense of profit. But none of us know for sure…

“You don’t pay $19.99 per month for a Store subscription to get your final value fee reduced from 10% to 4%??”

There’s no way that’s true.

It’s true for certain categories. PC Laptops and Netbooks is 4%, that’s the main category I sell in…

Awesome. Time to buy some cheap winter tires, hoping they don’t exclude eBay motors purchases.

The last time that this came out, during Prime Day, you could only use 1 ebay gc w/ this code (looks similar to the last one). Is this the norm or was that just for Prime Day? ebay T&C’s say that you can use up to 8 gc’s along with coupons or eBucks.

I used more than one Gc on Prime day in ebay

When I tried to add more than 1 gc for one item it said that I couldn’t b/c of the code.

hi doc you had a post about earning 1,750 united miles with a purchase on a cashback website something with an m butthey award in cash not miles? how do they know my unted account? thanks

Because your United account is tied to the portal, or at least it should be?

Can we use this offer for multiple times?

It doesnt look like sale is started as yet.

I don’t understand how this works. I’ve been looking to buy a $650 TV for a couple weeks now, and no electronics retailer accepts any coupons or discounts for that TV. I’ve also been looking for a retailer that won’t charge sales tax in NY. How is eBay able to offer 15% off everything, especially if they aren’t the ones doing the selling? Should I go for it?

Do you really want to spend that much time looking a gift horse in the mouth?

The seller doesn’t eat the discount, so it’s just part of ebay’s marketing budget.

If you want the TV know better time than now with the 15% off (tax will more than likely be included).

nope, no tax. guess i should go for it. i love this damn site. never miss anything.

Have you ever bought a TV via Ebay? I’m looking at the a $650 one as well (TCL?) the ~$100 off might make me pull the plug today.

Is BA Avios the only airline/points program to offer a portal bonus for eBay?

Yea and be wary it may get clawed back even if it posts.

Safest bet is TCB

why would it get clawed back? for using a coupon code?

Code is now active, just used it and saved $75!

I purchase a 5000 W inverter that I’ve been watching for a while, for just 299!!
