[Expired] eBay: $3 off Purchase of $3.01+; Get Small Items Almost Free (Promo Code: PERKS4ME)

Deal has expired, view more eBay deals by clicking here.

The Offer

  • eBay is offering $3 off purchases $3.01 and higher with promo code: PERKS4ME

I found an official link on eBay for this offer. That page shows it as only valid for first-time users whereas in practice it seems to be working for everyone, possibly a glitch.

The Fine Print

  • Expires May 2, 2019 at 11:59 pm PT
  • Discount applies to the purchase price (excluding shipping, handling, and taxes) of eligible items on ebay.com,ebay.ca, or cafr.ebay.ca.
  • Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Stamps, Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories.
  • Coupon must be used within a single transaction (and can include multiple eligible items), while supplies last. Max one-time use per account or household.
  • This coupon is intended for customers first purchase on eBay.

Our Verdict

Remember to shop with a portal. Our appreciation if you use our eBay affiliate link instead (our affiliate link here and below).

Find a cheap item and it’ll be almost free after promo. As an example, you can buy 6 USPS Forever postage stamps which costs $4.60 (after shipping) and pay just $1.60 after applying the promo code. Also look for chargers and other phone accessories, USB cables, toys, t-shirts, etc.

For the CC churner in your life… or bank bonus miner.

Cost 2 cents after code. Be advised, it will fall apart after 1-3 years of being a DoC follower. Ref: Personal experience and my duct taped book.

Good product suggestion.

Mildly amusing quirks of Ebay:

Chinese sellers using Canadian dollars as their advertised price currency instead of US dollars.

Seller who managed to get a Banggood item (identified by the Banggood business cards in the example photos) so cheaply that they can resell them with round-the-world shipping for 25% less than Banggood itself.

SquareTrade offering to sell me a warranty on some $3-$4 items, for $2.99.

1. I never really paid much attention to the Canadian dollar thing, as e-bay shows the approx. conversion. But now you have me wondering why? Do they get a better exchange rate to their money system? Does it force us to use a credit card?

2. I assume sellers have the right to substitute like items, so who knows if I get the Bang Good item. Getting quality pictures cost time and money, so once you get (or borrow) a good set, keep ’em up.

3. SquareTrade… not overly surprised. Warranties… hmphh.

S.O ordered 10 pack Hot Glue Gun Sticks… 4 cents. https://www.ebay.com/itm/10pc-7x200mm-Transparent-Hot-Melt-Glue-Stick-Adhesive-for-High-Power-Gun-ur/192809972539

If you want to be a big spender, there is a shorter stick 15 pack for 3.52 from an american seller.

These are great, I wonder how ebay affords to run these. Costs must add up real quick if people just order $3-$10 stuff where ebay can’t make it back in commissions.

Ebay makes PLENTY of money off its sellers. That’s how.

It’s a loss leader to suck people back in to buy stuff. They go into it knowing the immediate promo is a loss, but hoping the make more in the long game. It also moves products for the merchants, making them happy. I assume Ebay has a promotions budget and they will shut it down once consumed.
