The Fine Print

  • Discount applies to the purchase price (excluding shipping, handling, and taxes) of eligible items on eBay.com
  • Eligible items exclude items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories
  • Coupon can be used once per PayPal account within a single transaction (or cart)
  • Only eBay members paying with a PayPal account registered with an address located in the United States or Canada can receive the discount

Our Verdict

Good deal for eBay purchases, but these don’t work on gift cards any longer so we don’t have that easy route. Remember to use a shopping portal or ibotta for 2% or Yaarlo for 3%.

Dansdeals mentions the idea of buying $49 in USPS postage stamps which comes out to $50.25 total after shipping costs. After the $10 discount you’ll pay just $40.45 (since the $10 gets prorated).

A Blessing. Right on time. Helps to end a great week.
First I was Blessed to win a $100 Sweepstakes from a Toyota dealer. FOB key to my Much Better 1/2’s car mysteriously split in 1/2 and horns stopped working, so I just bought 2 extra FOB keys (2 Toyota’s) and 2 horns.
Then came the Best Buy President’s Day Sale/Visa Checkout promo (car audio equipment for less than $1K, includes in-dash GPS system, all Pioneer) and now this: JBL tweeters ($80-10+free shipping, no tax).
I don’t need stamps.

eBay just sent me a pretty amazing targeted offer that’s even better than this. It looks like they sent this to me because I live in San Jose, California, which has had a bunch of flooding recently and is where eBay has their headquarters. Of course this is highly YMMV (the terms state “Only invited, registered eBay users who see the Coupon in My eBay are eligible” and “Coupon is not transferable”), but it’s worth trying:

Save 20% with No Minimum Purchase

This week’s flooding has affected many of our neighbors here in San Jose. As a small gesture to our community, we offer this discount to you to support our area’s recovery.

Just use coupon code CSANJOSE20 at checkout.

Ends March 5, 11:59PM PT. Maximum discount is $50

Wow, that’s an awesome deal, which would be even more awesome if it works for anyone! Do you know if you can stack these deals (i.e. 20% off with an additional $10 off $50+)? Does PayPal allow you to enter/apply two coupon codes to one purchase?

Update: Tried to apply CSANJOSE20 to an order and got the following error: “This code can’t be applied. It’s linked to a different account.” It would appear that the code/deal is targeted to those who got the email.

As an aside, it appears you can apply two codes to one purchase, so you may be able to stack these deals for a total of $60 off a $250+ purchase made by 6pm PST today. Good luck!

Oof, I have to say that I think that would be in bad taste on this one. If this deal is really meant as a good will gesture, I think we should keep it that way (even if there was a way for everyone to use it).

I know not everyone will agree with me 🙂 Just food for thought, I think it’s one thing to stick it to the man, and another thing entirely when those corporations are trying to really do a good deed.

Agreed. It appears the deal is targeted, so no need to worry about people unaffected by the flooding taking advantage of the deal.

It ain’t a “good deed”, but predatory marketing — piggybacking on a news event to drum up more sales.

True, hard to pinpoint the motives for a corporation, I just like to try and look on the bright side. Like I said, not everyone will agree 🙂

I just checked and it does not stack with the $10 off $50 coupon.

Same. Any idea if the $10 off $50 flash deal stacks with the [targeted] $10 off $75 PayPal deal (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-paypal-spend-75-get-10/)?

Being a philatelist I always use this opportunity to buy stamps – not the forever stamps but express/priority stamps and full pane sheets. Buy the stamps at face value (or below face value using the code) and then keep them for a future sale.

Will this stack with the [targeted] $10 off $75 PayPal deal (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-paypal-spend-75-get-10/), meaning those targeted could get $75 worth of stuff for $55 (26.67% off)?
