eBay Offers 110% Price Match Guarantee on Select Purchases

Last year, eBay started a Price Match Guarantee for items sold under the eBay Daily Deals section, and they’ve now expanded that to be 110% guarantee and to include some other top items in thousands of categories.

Best Price Guarantee

Key details:

  • The 110% guarantee matches the following stores: Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, HomeDepot.com, Jet.com, Sears.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com.
  • The price match comes in the form of an eBay coupon which is valid for 30 days.
  • The extra 10% is only on the difference: e.g. if you find an eligible item which sells for $90 on Amazon and $100 on eBay, you’ll get an $11 coupon – the $10 difference, plus $1 for the 10% extra.
  • Get the bonus coupon by contacting eBay on the phone.
  • Purchases during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday (week after Thanksgiving) are excluded.
  • As noted, it only applies to eBay Daily Deals and select top items (I haven’t managed to find anything else yet with a small amount of poking around).

Since it’s issued in the form of a coupon, it requires a phone call, and it doesn’t apply to most item sold on eBay, this Guarantee is of limited use. Could be useful to keep in mind in the event that you have some eBay gift card to use up.

One silver lining is that they don’t count shipping fees when evaluating the price of the competition so that might be an angle to play for heavy items which come with high shipping fees or possibly for any item which does not have shipping fees on eBay but does have shipping fees on the other website.

In related news, eBay is attempting to compete with Prime Day by offering some special deals during the week of July 16th.

If they really wanted to compete with prime day, they would offer another 15-20% off everything sitewide coupon again.

This to me seems like too much work to go through, and the phone call is the real deal breaker for me
