Updates on Citi Prestige Changes [Admirals Extension, 2x Dining Remains, Signup Bonus]

Admirals Club Extension

Our contact at Citi reached out to clarify that the Admirals Club benefit on the Prestige card will not go away on June 20, 2017, as had been originally showing on the Citi website. It will remain until July 23, 2017.

Over the coming weeks, Citi will be communicating to our Citi Prestige cardmembers that the Admirals Club lounge benefit will no longer be available as of July 23, 2017.
Cardmembers will still have complimentary and unlimited access to over 850 Priority PassTM  Select Lounges and Citi® Proprietary Lounges and we continue to explore ways to enhance the Citi Prestige experience.

I got this info from Citi a number of hours ago, but wasn’t sure if there was a typo in the statement since the website was saying June 20, 2017. I haven’t heard back from Citi yet, but a reader says that the Citi website has now been updated to show the new July 23, 2017 date. Apparently, they’ve extended the Admirals benefit for another month.

This change is likely because banks try to give at least one year notice of change for new cardholders. Since some people are still signing up for the Prestige card with the promise of Admirals Club access, they want it to continue until July 23, 2017.

I’d guess we’ll soon see a change in the public landing page showing the Admirals Club benefit by July 24, 2016 or earlier so that everyone gets a full year of the benefit.

2x Dining Category

On another note, we’ve clarified based on reliable information that the Citi Prestige card will retain the 2x Dining category. As before, Dining and Entertainment will get 2x, and Air Travels and Hotels will get 3x.

We speculated yesterday that the 2x Dining was going to be dropped based on the information shown on a flyer, but apparently that flyer is just an omission, not indicative of the benefit going away.

Viewfromthewing is reporting the same on both of these points regarding the Admirals Club and the 2x Dining.

Signup Bonus

The signup bonus on the Prestige card was supposed to change today. We speculated that the only change will be the spend threshold going up from $3,000 to $5,000.

So far, the public signup bonus is still there, as before. Affiliate links are gone already, though. I’d guess that there’ll be a change in the public offer too within the next few days.
