The Offer
- Subscribe to any Ownzones channel, pay the subscription fee, and receive a $10 Amazon gift card free. The cheapest channel costs $1.99 per month
In the registration email, there should be a mention of the Amazon gift card promo.
See here for more info on how to cancel the subscription. It’s worth waiting until you get the gift card before cancelling.
The Fine Print
- New subscribers only
- Limit one per customer
- Gift card will be received within 14 business days
Our Verdict
They have offered a similar promo in the past, but last time the cheapest channel was only $0.99 per month. As long as you remember to cancel your subscription you should be fine. Remember this is only for new customers, so if you’ve already signed up don’t do it again.
You could use a Citi Virtual Number to sign up and that way you won’t be automatically billed if you forget, but I’d recommend cancelling anyway so you don’t go to collections and ruin your FICO score. Last time this deal died within 24 hours, so we’ve also posted it to our hot deals account. If you don’t already know, it’s possible to get text and e-mail notifications of these deals which we think will die quickly.
Eric – Ownzones would not provide me with the Amazon gift card, but they did credit my account for the subscription fee without my asking.
I just went to the site and see the promotion still on the site. Fortunately I thought to look further down and see this line near the bottom: “This promotion is inactive.” Is it possible that line was there when you signed up and you didn’t notice it? This seems like false advertising to me.
Michael,
Did you ever hear back from them about getting the credit? I forgot all about this promotion until Adler just commented.
Signed up on 7/6 as a new customer. As of today, I’ve never got my card. I’m canceling today 8/5 before they renew me.
I just got mine today, placed 6/27.
I see the offer is still available. I guess it’s worth trying since you received credit. Was it easy to cancel service?
Anyone get their gift card/code? It’s been 14 days tomorrow for me with nothing.
Do they do this offer every month? I’d rather wait to see if more people get credited before wasting my time on this.
I did this offer last time. I received the digital gift card code on day 14. I appreciate all the work you guys put into this site.
Same here, I got mine on 14th day. This time I signed up in my wife’s name.
Are you a different Max that just posted yesterday with a negative message?
Same here .. no gift card .. waste of time
I signed up for his offer the last time, June 9th, but still haven’t received the Amazon gift card even though it has been more than 14 days. I have reached out to [email protected] to get a status update.
Status update – Ownzones never replied to my email on June 26th and I never received the gift card.
I received the following following update from Ownzones today:
“Hello Michael,
We apologize for the confusion, however our promotion ended on 6/9 at 7pm (PST) and you had subscribed after that time frame. We are always running new promos, so be on the lookout for more coming soon!
We hope this helps. Please contact us with any further questions or concerns.
Cheers!
OWNZONES Support Team”
Apparently, I placed my order at 10:07 PM EST on 6/9 and they say I was 7 minutes too late. I never saw a cutoff time mentioned and the ad for the offer was still on their site.
Do you have print screens showing there was no mention of a deadline at the time that you ordered? Now I’m worried they’ll pull the same stunt with me if I place an order.
Yes, I have screen captures of the ad. The current version on their site also doesn’t reflect a cutoff time.
Did you show them that and they still denied you?
I sent it to them, but I haven’t heard back. Since it took until July 9th for them to respond to my June 26th email, I’m not holding my breath.
This is a hot deal? $8? To hassle with signing up, dealing with the inevitable spam, remembering to cancel?
Life is too short.
Takes less than five minutes to do it all. I’ll take $96 an hour in my free time.
