[Targeted] Chase Offers: Get 10% CashBack on Staples.com Purchases, Up To $17 Cashback

Update 3/15/24: Deal is back through 4/30/24 with a max $17 cashback. Important: This time it’s only for Staples.com online purchase. The terms also exclude gift cards for this deal. (ht to reader Tikky)

The Offer

Check your Chase Offers to save the following deal:

  • Earn 10% back on your Staples purchase, with a $10 back maximum.
  • Others got 20%, same $10 maximum.

The Fine Print

  • Offer expires 9/4/2022.
  • Offer valid one time only.
  • Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer not valid on third-party services. Payment must be made on or before offer expiration date.

Our Verdict

I hate that Chase Offers don’t make it clear whether it’s a store offer or online offer. There is a ‘Shop Staples’ link which would indicate it works online, though we once had a data point from a similar offer that it does not work online. Should work in-store. Let us know your prior experiences.

I’m not sure if this offer is showing with any of the other banks – a number of banks use the same back end for these offers. This includes: Chase, Bank of America, Regions Bank, Suntrust Bank, BBVA, BB&T, PNC, Columbia Bank, Beneficial Bank, and Christian Community CU. You can read this post for more information.

Gift cards can be purchases from Staples, both in store and online, including Visa gift cards. This Chase Offer times well with the deal to get fee-free Visa gift cards at Staples stores. (The online deal has expired already.)

Post History:

  • Update 6/24/23: Deal  is back through July 9th or 10th. Higher max cashback of $22 this time.
  • Update 5/26/23: Deal is back.

US Bank also has the staples.com offer but it looks like apple pay is not available on staples.com. Was wondering if buying $200 vgc will trigger the offer. Besides, US Bank has 2x promo

I’ve placed an order with e-gift cards today. I received an email that the order was canceled, call us at 800-…. They verified my address etc and told me that I can’t make this order and they didn’t give a reason. It’s my 1st order on staples.com and it’s 1st time I was told that I can’t order from a store. What a BS.

I just placed my order on Staples.com. I decided to add the PP offer also with the recent positive DP. We’ll see if that was a wise decision or not.

BTW, my PP offer was only for 1.5% CB so either the 2% that others reported was a targeted offer or the offer recently decreased from 2% to 1.5%.

It also shows that the PP offer expires on 4.3.24. Does it show the same for the rest of you?

3/15: $300 VGC order placed on CIC through Paypal
3/20: $300 VGC arrives by mail
3/21: charge posted on CIC
3/24: 10% offer shows as redeemed

Received 5% back on CIC, 2% through Paypal, $17 through chase offers

Charge fell on and off CIC before posting on the 3/21. Be sure to add the Paypal offer before checking out if you are going to use it.

Nice. Can we also go through Rakuten for another 2%? It excludes GCs, but maybe it will work?

I tried actually, through the Rakuten app, but no luck.

Chloe,

It seems odd that the purchase didn’t post until after you received the physical gc. Do you think using PP could have caused the delay? What does it show for the transaction date on your online statement?

Justin,

Do you have an opinion on my 1st question to Chloe? Are you going to make your purchase on 3/27 with or without PP?

It just seems that Staples takes a long time to process the orders for the Physical Visa Gift cards.

I placed 2 orders on 2/29. The orders did not ship until 3/4. The transaction and post date for both of those orders was 3/6 after the original authorization had fallen off.

That means that they shipped 2 business days after the order, which is not bad. I might consider using PP on my USB order on Wed since Chloe got credit. Did yours post yet?

Is the paypal offer limited to just one transaction?

 Chuck,

I received this 10% CB Staples.com offer on my USB account. I am thinking of using it on 3.27.24 so I can combine the 10% CB with the double CB offer that USB is running between 3.27.24 and 3.30.24 for a total CB of $34. Any reason that wouldn’t work?

3/16 Visa Gift Card purchase on my Chase Ink via PayPal wasn’t charged until 3/21.

Posted 3/22 under “PAYPAL *STAPLES INC”

Got the 5% back for office supply stores. Still waiting to see if it will trigger the Chase offer.

What advantage was there going through PP instead of just buying it directy with your Ink?

PayPal Rewards. 2% at Staples.

Justin,

Please update us if/when the 10% CB posts as if it does, I might do the same on my USB card based on my comment below.

My only concern with my plan is that your card wasn’t charged until 5 days after the purchase, which would fall outside of the 2X promo period. Do you think that’s an aberration or is that common practice for Staples?

Note be sure to check your Chase offers daily. This just popped up on a couple cards for myself and P2.

Hopefully my purchase will also post in 1 day but I’m a little nervous because of the DP from Justin. I saw that you purchased an eGC while he purchased a physical gc so unfortunately, your DP probably won’t apply to my expected purchase.

Did your physical visa GC purchase trigger the chase 10% credit? T&C clearly state gift cards don’t qualify, but hopefully it does. I have this offer on several of my CIC so would love to get the 5x and the 10% for buying online (still works out better than buying in store unless the in store triggers the discount)

To clarify, I have not made a purchase yet. When I wrote “Hopefully my purchase will also post in 1 day”, I meant “Hopefully my future purchase will also post in 1 day”.

Do they run sales for fee-free visa/mc gift card on staples.com? I remember they had it around December 2022. Not sure if they’ve had it since.
