Our Verdict
Perfect way to visit a museum (or two) for free that you’d normally have to pay for. Hopefully the fact they are assigning tickets means that crowds won’t be too bad!

This is pretty cool.
DoC should make a post about BoA cc’s gives you free access to museums once a month.
Maybe that’s why Chuck still keeps a BoA cc
Jack should find friends IRL so that he stops spamming pointless comments on the internet like a lonely spinster in San Francisco
Most museums now require to buy online tickets. I have no idea how to use BoA CC to get free tickets because we have to pay in advance, instead of showing BoA CC at the gate as before.
I’ve gone to a few in socal (discovery cube oc, the living desert, SB County museum, and more) and you can get a ticket in person, but you could call ahead to make sure.
I can confirm from prior experience that MoMA is like an airport on Thanksgiving during these free museum days. You’d think that they were giving out free donuts and coffee. This year will be a hard skip for obvious reasons.
I used to work at one of the more popular museums that did Smithsonian day and the traffic on these days can get ungodly. Some advice based on my experience: traffic decreases later in the day, make sure you bring what you need and use the restroom beforehand – facilities can be limited if it’s a smaller but popular location, if you’re interested in a less popular museum you may have a better time – some people who did Smithsonian day at the museum I worked at decided to just come back on a paid day rather than deal with the (frankly fire hazard) level of people in the building, and please be patient with the people working there; many consider this to be the worst day of the year to have a museum job.
Have fun!

To be fair, there is very little overlap between the BoA list and this one. Also, the smithsonian magazine museum day list also includes more non-museum institutions.

Thank you! I just got two free tickets to the Eastman Kodak Museum in Rochester!
Wow this is amazing. You’re the best Doc!
Yeah! Thank you.
Thanks! Pretty cool to explore museums in the area that I haven’t been to!
