[Expired] Giftcards.com Fee-Free Visa Gift Cards and E-Gift Cards through December 31 [FEEFREE2018]

Deal has expired, view more Giftcards.com deals by clicking here.

The Offer

The Fine Print

  • Valid through December 31, 2018.
  • Shipping is $1.99 per card if you order up to 3, otherwise it’s $7.45 when ordering 4

Our Verdict

Looks like some free manufactured spend here is you have a way to unload. There is a shipping fee on the physical gift cards; the digital ones will be completely free. Each can be purchased in denominations of up to $500 with a maximum of $2,500 in a single transaction.

Go through a shopping portal for additional rewards. Topcashback is showing Visa as eligible for .75% cashback, Yazing is showing 1% (not sure if these rates apply to Visa e-gift cards or not). Readers note that promo codes usually void portal cashback, so keep that in mind.

The pic has $0 shipping. Haven’t used them in a couple of years. Do they offer free shipping now?

ZipZapKaZoom

Shipping hadn’t been calculated yet on that screenshot. Shipping still applies.

What do you use with the virtual ones? Can you add them to Google Pay? (Although I guess I don’t have a store that accepts contactless and sells MO via debit, so, perhaps the question is moot, but, still.)

Also, these seem to have free imprinting of your name on the cards? That sounds nice!

Are there any guidelines on how to proceed? Is it safe to order 2.5k in the first order? Trying to start small. Is there any referral portal this could go through for any additional points?

I’m also curious as to What is a good way to use the egift cards

I don’t know about these virtual cards, but I got a virtual card from TopCashBack.com and tried to add it to Samsung Pay, Chase Pay, and Google Pay without success.

Code is likely to void any CB portal payout. 🙁

+1 this. I made a VGC purchase on 12/22 using the other code for $3 off (HELLOWINTER18), and BeFrugal didnt track the purchase; normally they track it within 24 hours.

However, assuming the standard 1% cb for most portals for Giftcards.com, using this fee-free code is approximately equivalent to using no code and using a portal. My advice is to use the code during checkout and that way you don’t have to worry about a portal tracking correctly.

Wonder if the Ebates CC pay 3x, if the code invalidates the portal payout, but still using ebates portal.

Is gift cards.com coded as CA by Amex?

do the virtual gift cards work as Debit for paying estimated federal taxes 1040-es?

Larry
Larry

I’ve never used these but last week I used a virtual MCGC from the Costco iPhone rebate promo to pay at official payments and was charged $2 debit card fee. That one was from wirecard.com and started with 511534.

Stephen
Stephen

Can you expand on this? You MS with virtual MCGC on wirecard.com?

Larry
Larry

Sorry didn’t see your reply until now. I received the wirecard virtual MCGC from a Costco/T-Mobile iPhone rebate and used it to pay my 1040-ES. Just saying that virtual MCGC worked. I don’t [know how to] MS on wirecard.com, just finding the least expense to liquidate the virtual cards.

I did 3 eVGCs from here (giftcards.com) to pay my 1040-ES today and they worked. Saves me about 1.3% compared with using my CC to pay.

Would really like to know this as well!

How does these work? Do I select credit or debit when I use the giftcards?

Thanks!

Chris
Chris

You can do either. They work the same as a “regular” debit card issued by a bank tied to a checking account. With that said, always choose “credit” unless you can’t, or you will get charged a fee for doing so. Running it as “credit” gives you the same Visa/Mastercard guarantees you get when using a credit card, such as limited fraud liability.

Chris
Chris

Er, re-reading my reply, part of that was badly worded. What I meant was, always choose “credit” unless:
1) the merchant doesn’t accept credit cards, either in general, or for the specific transaction, such as purchasing money orders;
2) the merchant accepts credit cards but charges a surcharge for accepting them.
I guess, obviously, you’d want to choose “credit” as well if the card issuer charged a fee for running it as “debit”. This doesn’t apply to the no-fee-after-purchase gift cards, such as these ones from Giftcards.com, that we usually use for manufactured spend. You find that type of stuff on the reloadable and payroll cards that banks use to prey on the poor. Since the banks don’t get an interchange fee for a debit transaction, they often charge a fee for debit transactions with those cards.

got bonus with purchases from online GC or GCM?

Which issuers are ok with buying from this website without giving you headache ?

I think Amex and US Bank are a no no specially if hitting MSR for Amex

Drivesabrowntruck
Drivesabrowntruck

This is great for heavy hitters, due to portal payouts at 30k per account. I’ll take an instant payout over portal payout all day long. Only thing with that is if you value the increase payout with a virtual visa they add extra % for doing vs PayPal cashout.

TBone

Portal payouts are now 60K a month.

have amex hilton biz cc that still needs another $2k to hit the $15k total for a free nite. will amex count a purch at GC? Thx

Mjs

I’ve not had issues with these impacting MS on a personal Amex and I’ve done quite a few different cards if that helps.

Can you expand on the MS part? If I buy a eGC using this offer, how do I do MS with that?

Dan
Dan

simon mall is excluded from the free night counter (verified this personally and its supported in the flyertalk simon thread), and i think gc websites would likely have the same issue. if you try, can you report back?

dan
dan

well, risky since only 3 days left before year’s end to hit the $15k spend; if amex refused or didn’t count, will lose out the award; not sure if the cost savings is worth the risk

Dan
Dan

if you really want the free night, then i would not try it. someone commented to me on reddit that gcm and such dont count

No. C1 hates MSers.

What about BofA? Got two cards to meet the MSR

Closertothesun

MSR is not really a problem anywhere except Amex, and even then it’s questionable on if its a problem.

Think homeboy above is talking about MSing 6-figures+ for the % back, rather than 500-5k for an MSR, when he says this or that bank has problems with MSers.

Prolly yes to MSR, no to high volume MS. I did my spark biz MSR with mostly gc/gcm.com.

ordered 5 visa card for 490 each to stay below 2500 total, used coupon and save 34$ card fee, but paid 7.45 shipping fee, you will pay 1.99 fee for each card if order 3 cards or less. no portal payout but still good considering i used cap1 2% card. Thanks

CM

Thank you! So, if you order 3 cards, it’s 3 * 1.99, but if you order 4 or more, it’s 7.45 (instead of 7.96), e.g., a 50 cent discount?

Doc, can you update the post with this info? I can confirm I’m also getting 7.45 when having 4 cards in the cart and shipping method is “USPS Trackable Mail – $7.45”.

Is there daily or monthly purchase limit of giftcards.com? Can I make multiple purchases per day?

velocity limit of $10k per 48 hours reported in the past, after which cancellations happen

I’m seeing a daily limit of $2500.

Curmudgeon

Based on other comments, this might be inaccurate. I did place an order for just under $2500 a few hours before midnight, and again a few hours after, figuring they’d be considered separate days, but maybe not.
