The Offer
- Google Express is offering 20% off purchases with promo code: NEWYEAR20
The Fine Print
- Expires February 1
- Max $10 discount
Our Verdict
Max this out by purchasing $50 worth of stuff. Shipping is free typically at $25 or $35, depending on the store – anywhere from there until $50 is a good deal.
20% off at random stores isn’t too interesting, but Google Express has stores of Walmart, Target, and so many more on their system, and most people will have some groceries or staple items they need making this deal an easy one to use.
Note, you can only use one promo code per order, so this won’t stack with a new user bonus or any other sort of Google Express promo code you have. Z294732W4
If you’re new to Google Express you can get a new user promo code. You can use my friend’s referral code Z294732W4 (signup link) which gives you $10 off $10 or use SHOP2018 for 20% off first order (max $20).
Juts throwing this out there, Google Express just sent me an email that starting now, you will no longer be able to order from Costco through Google Express unless you have a Costco number. Let’s all use 1 number! 🙂 🙂
When I ordered from Walmart via Google Express using the code NEWYEAR20, it applied Tax of $4.46 on a total bill of $53.88. Same items selected on Walmart.com did not get any Tax for same shipping address (TX). Effectively I saved $5 and change.
Thanks for the Tip Doc.
Costco prices online are typically 10-15% more. Assuming you maxed out at 50 dollars, this deal only gives you 10 – 7.5(15% of 50) = 2.5$. It might be worth for some people but for me it’s not worth the hassle
Totally worth it for those of us who don’t have a car
Not across the board its not. Even the monthly sale items extend through GE.
When you buy from Google Express, does the purchase code as the underlying store would? For example, if you shop Staples via Google Express and pay with Ink, is it 5x points?
I don’t think so. For a purchase made for Walmart via Google Express, my Chase card listed it as “Google Express – Walmart”, or something like that. This didn’t code in the 5% Walmart category last month with Chase.
It does not.
I’ve tried using Google Express with previous 20% coupons as a cheap way to get some grocery items shipped to the house. On 2 of my last 3 orders, they have cancelled all the heavy items such as flour, laundry detergent, etc.
Might be store and not Google express? I’ve bought similar bulky oils, bags of rice and flours from Walmart and Costco via Google Express several times. No cancelations so far.
Cancellations were all from Walmart saying the item was no longer available yet it still was clearly available. Happened twice for the detergent and once for the flour.
There is 20% off your 1st order with code SHOP2018 (up to $20)
I’ll add that
great to get some additional discount from costco!
google checkout price is 20% more expensive than costco B&M store price.
I got a rice maker sold by Costco via GE at one third of the price compared to the discounted price at my local B&M Costco… I suspect YMMV a lot both ways
Agree. At first GeX seemed like a good option and with coupons and discounts made it look better. Now even with coupons its not as good. Unless there are specific deals that make the price lower or there are deals that are stack-able with coupons like Amex Sync deals, I think 20% off is not so much of a deal anymore.
I thought I would get 2xTide detergent @18.99 each but while that may be $0.75 each lesser with the 20% off coupon than the in-store price thinking the savings not really worth risking having them shipped,
