When Google & Walmart announced they were partnering for Google Express you could sign up to receive 20% off your next order at Walmart when it officially launched ($30 maximum discount). It’s no longer possible to sign up for that discount, but the discount code seems to be working on all Google Express stores rather than just Walmart. I always assumed that the coupon was only supposed to work at Walmart, but I don’t think that was ever actually the case as the only restrictions listed are/were:
- Shipping and service fees
- Google Chromecast
- Google Chromecast Audio
- Google Chromecast Ultra
- Google Home
- Gift cards
- Multiple orders
- Orders placed with a prepaid or virtual card, if the card issuer won’t authorize the hold
In any case, here’s a nice little reminder for those with the coupon.

When purchasing through google express, do the charges appear as google express or as the source store, such as Walmart. That is, do credit card bonus categories track? (It’s Walmart quarter at Chase.). And same for shopping portals.

Still pending, but my Discover payment through GE to Target is showing as “GOOGLE *Target”. My guess is it will show as Google Express, but maybe the category will track like MPX. My hope is Discover sees it as Target, though, for an extra 5%.
