In case you didn’t know on the 25th of July changes were introduced to the SunTrust Delta Debit card which effectively crippled the card and made it largely worthless for the majority of people. The card used to have an annual fee of $75, whenever a financial institution introduces negative changes to a card I always recommend asking for compensation. It’s not entirely fair that you paid an annual fee for benefits/earning rates that you thought would continue, only to have them gutted from under your feet.
Yesterday Gary from View From The Wing shared that he was able to receive a refund of $72, even though he paid the annual fee way back in January. I asked if anybody else had any experiences with this on Twitter and received the following response from Matt from Saverocity (do yourself a favor and follow him on Twitter if you haven’t already).
@Drofcredit csr limit to single transaction either annual fee or monthly charge. Auth to refund any fee upto $72, needs a Supv. For more

It looks like anybody can get an annual fee refund of $72, if you want more compensation than that you’ll need to ask to speak to a supervisor. Given that $72 is almost all of the annual fee that you paid, I wouldn’t bother trying to get anything more. I would have obviously preferred that the card wasn’t gutted, but with the coming Delta devaluations I’ll happily take $72 instead.
Please let me know what your experiences were in terms of getting the annual fee refunded in the comments below.
