Hawaii To Remove 10 Day Quarantine Period/Negative PCR Test For Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Looks like this has been finally signed in and will go into effect on July 8, 2021.

Hawaii Governor David Ige has signed an emergency proclamation that has made changes to the 10 day mandatory quarantine period. Currently this can be bypassed if:

  • Negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival
  • You’re arriving by boat and have been at sea for 10 or more days with no positive COVID cases

A new exemption has been added for travelers that are fully vaccinated. It’s important to note that this isn’t valid as of yet as it still needs to be signed by Maj. Gen. Kenneth S. Hara, director of the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency. Travelers will either need to upload proof of vaccination on the Safe Travels Program website or provide it in person on arrival.

Time to lock the comments…. became a flame war…. probably shouldn’t even open the comments for any of these types of posts tbh.

As a Hawaii resident, welcome to our fascist police state. Easily the most corrupt in the country (maybe only second to Puerto Rico), and the most police (blue) state

Yea, all these arbitrary restrictions and testing rules have done fuck all for the case numbers in Hawaii.

Why would I stay at home? I am fully vaccinated unlike your kids. Heading to Jamaica next week, Hawaii next month.

The kids should really still be tested if under 16, especially if in school, so I see no problems there. However, Pfizer has already submitted for authorization for 12-15, so perhaps vaccination will be available for that age soon as well.

FYI, children under the age of the five are also exempt from self-quarantine as long as they travel with a qualifying adult who is also exempt.

The most important things about this proclamation for HI residents are probably the extensions on eviction moratoria and driver’s license expirations, but who cares about that? Karen wants to go on vacation with her four-year-old twins!

Sounds good, but people with kids (over 5) are still stuck

Fuck you too. I’d be happy to demonstrate how children are not the only way to ruin your perfect bachelor vacation when you get here. Enjoy Hawai’i.

I think the only thing worse than children is getting Covid. Then again, you dont have to suffer from Covid for like 10-12 years.

You know what? I changed my mind, children are worse than Covid.

We were at a resort that allowed kids the other day, there was a couple changing their kids diaper next to the pool. It was fucking disgusting.

No, you don’t need a covid test to enter.
And if you drive back/enter via a land border as a US Citizen, you don’t need one to return as well.
