The Offer
- HotelTonight are offering a discount of up to $100 off reservations by using promotional code ‘TRAVELTUESDAY‘, Apple Pay must also be used as your payment preference. The promotional code is a little bit complicated, so let me simplify it for you.
- The code can only be used on Tuesdays, remember you can only book one week in advance with HotelTonight
- You’ll receive a discount of $20, $40 or $100 off your hotel. The discount you receive is roulette style and random (although I guess $20 is going to be a lot more common than $100). You’ll see what your discount is before making a purchase.
- Minimum spend requirement is $150
The Fine Print
- Limited quantity. Offer subject to availability.
- Offer code must be redeemed on Tuesday June 28, July 5, July 12, July 19, July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23 or August 30, 2016, by 11:59PM local time.
- Cannot be combined with any other offers or applied to existing bookings.
- Booking must be made with Apple Pay and applies stays from today through September 15, 2016. $150 minimum spend required. Offer only applies to first time bookings made in the app.
- Limited to 1 booking per device.
- Coupons may not be applied to all reservations.
- Check the “Need to Know” section of the hotel details page to see if a property does not qualify for coupon use.
Our Verdict
This promotion is needlessly complicated, there are so many exclusions it’s hard to get any good value from this offer at all. I guess if you get a $100 discount on a stay of $150+ that’s a pretty good deal. I don’t find HotelTonight to be particularly useful, the idea is that they deeply discount rooms because they are selling them last minute and a hotel would prefer some revenue to none. In practice, rates have been cheaper when booking directly compared to using HotelTonight in the few times I’ve bothered to check rates.
If I had Apple Pay, I’d probably try to maximize this offer (yay, last minute stays). In the end I’m sure I’d end up so frustrated that I’d just delete the app. I kind of regret writing this post. If anybody actually finds it useful, let me know in the comments. If not, sorry for wasting your time.
