Our Verdict

They usually have this offer once in May and again in August. Some good deals to be had. Intercontinental Cartagena used to be slightly better (previously it was 12,500 points under this, now it’s 17,500) but still a great deal and I really enjoyed my time in Cartagena. Feel free to share any properties that stand out to you in the comments.

This deal was also supposed to go live yesterday, not sure what caused the delay from IHG.

Question: If I have the new IHG Premier card, and I book at one of these hotels for a 4 night award redemption stay, the 4th night should be free since these are award redemptions, correct? [so for example, IC Cancun @ 17,500pts/night becomes 52,500 points for a 4 night stay]

I guess that’s the question. it would be interesting to get a definitive answer to this.

DoC – you’re amazing! Thank you!! I just booked my mom for 8 nights in Cozumel on Sat and was able to rebook tonight for half the cost (150k pts). Already had the points purchased but no regrets – will just get to use them later.

2018 is turning out to be the golden age of IHG card combos/promos! (as always, I am sure it won’t last..)

Cozumel booked for 4 nights just 75k points! These would have cost 150k points. This is such a great promotion!

Cozumel is showing as 25K points per night for me, so for 4 nights it should be 100K points. Am I missing something?

So it looks like this is a confirmation that this promotion stacks with the 4th night free, correct?

We’ve enjoyed various IHG all-inclusives off this promo over the years …. sad that Montego Bay (Jamaica) — the best of the fading lot — hasn’t participated recently. Far fewer AIC’s on this list. Of those that are, with all the reports of tainted alcohol at Mexican resorts….. my better half no longer much interested. Any favorite suggestions out there?

PS: we’re not much interested in those IHG resorts on beaches where swimming not permitted — i.e. Los Cabos (sic!). By contrast, tiny Aruba has a nice, tranquil shore-line, but the beach near the aging HI there was over-crowded with non-food vendors — and for the past three years, there’s been 2-5 monster drilling rigs “parked” just off shore. (I gather those “parked” rigs are a life-line to Aruba’s increasingly fragile economy — but rather messes with the view. ;-( )

We did this last year for 15k at presidente, leading into nights at the Hyatt. Hard to beat all inclusive for food and entertainment, but the ic beach was miles better.

Why ? i think using 1/2 the points is better deal

No, Because then you would buy the remaining points for half price.
