On Monday September 28th IHG will release a new PointsBreaks list. IHG members will be able to book select properties for 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 points per night for stays September 24th until November 30th. No sample list has been provided as of yet, we might get some samples tomorrow. Previously all PointsBreaks properties cost 5,000 points per night but two lists ago they introduced other properties costing 10,000 and 15,000 points per night. Fingers crossed for some good properties this time.
Does Hilton have anything like PointsBreak? Where certain properties are offered at a discounted Points rate.
AFAIK no
🙁
Has anyone stayed at HIE San Antonio Windcrest ? Considering it for an upcoming stay.
Ah, I found the issue. Apparently it blocks out any other (non-pointsbreak)reward bookings during the period through 11/30 so you don’t know the normal rate for these locations unless you search past 11/30.
William Charles , FYI – never knew that they can actually remove a hotel from the list. They removed Holiday Inn Express & Suites : Carpinteria (was listed under 15K per night). I actually made 3 bookings there just in case, and now although award nights are available they are all at usual 40K. Checking the list on IHG site (same URL), and the hotel is no longer listed there….
Is it normal? I thought the availability can diminish, but the hotel being removed from the list completely? Did not expect that.
Experienced users.. please comment, as this is my first time booking point break nights.
Thank you in advance!
They have a certain amount of reservations they take and then remove properties I think.
+1 to Will’s Answer.
I believe they only have a certain amount of Pointsbreak nights and that’s it.
What happens if you buy these and it shows the hotel as having no reward nights available?
Sorry I’ve never done this so just asking how that works.
So does a Reward night need to be available to book using these or not?
I booked two nights at the QO Amsterdam last night and it seems like IHG took QO Amsterdam off the list today.
Glad I was able to book two nights in November.
Bummer. I’m in Amsterdam December 28th – January 3rd. Points are sky high by that time.
If you do get the chance (and it’s expensive) DO stay at the Kimpton Resort and Spa in the Cayman Islands. It’s gorgeous and the room is breathtaking!
miami airport for 10k is pretty decent
Thanks DoC! I was able to secure a Crowne Plaza in central Berlin for next weekend for half the normal points rate.
Been eyeing one hotel in IL, and it’s on the list… PERFECT!
