Update 5/1/25: Deal is back from 5/1 – 5/13

The Offer

Load coupons here for all Kroger stores | Harris Teeter

Check your Kroger coupons for the following offers:

  • Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on Visa and Mastercard $100, $50, or $25 fixed-value gift cards. (Does not work on variable-load Visa/MC gift cards.)
  • Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on third party gift cards. (Excludes Amazon.)

You should see these coupons for all Kroger-family brands. Deal usually becomes available at Harris Teeter as well in roughly the same time period. Typically, gift cards earn 2x, and occasionally they’ll put out offers like these to bump it up to 4x.

Our Verdict

When maxed out on a 35-gallon fill, 4x fuel points can amount to a 14% discount on gas. Select Kroger stores now allow redeeming fuel points for groceries now as well.

Deal is valid online and in-store. Remember to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases. There is also a Chase offer for 10% back.

At least at Ralph's (my local Kroger store), today they have a new 4x on most third-party gift cards coupon that starts today (April 30) and is good through May 13, plus they also have a new 4x on Visa/MC $25, $50, or $100 gift cards good on the same date range.

  • "Much obliged for the prompt information on that 4x fuel points deal! It is really an excellent way for squeezing out savings, especially since it's followed by an extra add-on off for an additional $8 discount when buying two Visa or Mastercard gift cards. The reminder for using a credit card with very high rewards on grocery spending comes as very helpful, too. Can't wait to use this one today!"

    • Where did you get the offer for $8 discount? Not been seeing this for many months in Kroger apps

  • The $8 off worked for me today at HT for two $100 VGCs (fees now $6.95 each). Used Discover for 5% to more than offset the remaining $1.95, while getting the 4x on Fuel Points.

This $8 off two $100s has worked consistently at HT the past few years. Whereas HT doesn't always do their coupons correctly for other VGC promos (such as the coupon for no activation fee if you spend $150 or more on a variable load).

  • It looks like 4x fuel points is back today. I’m also seeing the $8 off when you buy two $100 MC or V GCs offer.

As of today, my local Kroger store (Ralphs) is showing two 4x gift card offers, both valid now (4/9) through 4/21:

One is for most gift cards (no LOCAL language), with the typical Kroger gift card and Amazon gift card exclusions.

The other is for $25/$50/$100 Visa/MC Gift cards (with variable load Visa/MC gift cards excluded).

      • They're had these two offers (4x third party gift cards, 4x Visa/MC fixed value gift cards) together tons of times over the years, and if they really did stack, people would be talking about that all over the place, and I've never seen that.

The T&Cs are confusing because some of the T&Cs are online and some T&Cs are only at the physical store, etc. So it's hard to be sure from the online T&Cs alone.

And keep in mind that there was another kind of combination in the past (4x on all purchases Fridays only with 4x on gift cards) that used to stack, but no longer stacks, and is the fact that it can't stack is now spelled out in one of the T&Cs.

  • Hi, anyone ran into a similar situation at Kroger with a Visa gift card purchase? I got the newer ones where you scan a QR code to add to a mobile wallet instead of a physical card. While scratching it off to scan, I accidently damaged a little corner of the QR code. As a result, the QR code is not readable and scannable by my phone. I tried contacting the gift card and Kroger but both are not able to help. Am i out of my money at this point? Can i dispute the $184 purchase with Chase? Thanks a lot for any guidance!

    • This is giftcards.com problem. The should help. Contact them saying there is a defective QR code. They should help you get replacement as long as you can provide sufficient evidence. I have had replacements issued couple times though never on these virtual ones.

Also, this is a reminder for everyone. All these new cards are cheaply made and you need to handle it with care. I've heard people complain about the new glue tearing numbers off of card too. These are cheaply produced and to avoid hassle, handle them gently please.

At least at my local Kroger store (Ralphs), as of today there's a new offer: 4x on gift cards with no LOCAL language, through 4/1/25.

And the timing of that makes sense, since the previous offer currently listed above was only through 3/18/25, which was yesterday.

    • The link here is dead, but that coupon is still showing on my local Kroger's store's (Ralphs) website, even if I open it in a private window so that it doesn't recognize that I already loaded that coupon previously.

So you may want to check your local Kroger store's website to see if it's offered there.

Maybe they just removed it from the general Kroger website because perhaps a small subset of Kroger brands no longer supported that coupon?

      BUT:

As already discussed below, and also mentioned above, this coupon is only for LOCAL gift cards, with no good definition of what LOCAL means. It hasn't worked for most people for most national brand gift cards.

So if you're not about to buy a LOCAL gift card, the coupon may not be worth seeking out.

  • Bought 2 $100 VGCs at HT on 7th, only one tracked as 4x. Called CSR, got points. Coupon still available for use again
