Kroger: Keep An Eye Out For $5 Coupon On Variable Visa Gift Card

R/churning member akjohnny reports getting a coupon on their Kroger receipt to get $5 and $3 off their next purchase of a variable-load Visa gift card. A coupon which works on variable load cards is something of a rarity, and most people probably just throw their receipts aways, so this is headsup to keep an eye out.

Stack with 5% back at Kroger with Dosh, and use your Chase Freedom card for 5x until the end of the month if you haven’t maxed that out yet.

Just Kroger, or all Kroger stores (Smiths, Fred Meyer, etc.)?

After looking closer at the coupons it was $5 off the purchase of a fixed vgc when you buy a variable gift card… and $3 off a $50 vgc when you purchase a variable visa gift card… I showed the $5 coupon to the first cashier and she manually gave me $5 off my variable gift card when I kept telling her it said variable gift card… this stacked nicely with Dosh… I tried a second time for the $3 coupon but the second cashier actually read the coupon…. oh well every little bit counts let’s see what happens today.

I got one on Saturday for fixed $100 visa or mastercards. Used on Sunday and got an error at self check. Had to get an override

I also got those last friday, but if you look at the fine print it says that it doesn’t work on variable load only set denominations. Maybe you can get a manager to overide it, but I didn’t have any luck with that.
