Lowe’s Re-added To Most Shopping Portals

Update 1/13/19: It looks like Lowe’s is back on most shopping portals now, yay! Hat tip to reader bullfrog23414

Most cashback and miles/points portals are no longer showing any payout for Lowe’s, with only a few portals now carrying them. The change happened yesterday (or perhaps earlier). Hopefully it’s only temporary.

Far as I can tell from our blog affiliate links, Lowe’s is still a valid affiliate, but shopping portals might run differently from blogs. I wonder if Lowe’s removed themselves from ALL portals, and the ones who are still up just haven’t yet updated.

Can you change it to “re-added”? Was confused by the title.

I noticed that it’s back on a few portals. TCP, BF, SB, and a couple more (looks like ~3%). Unfortunately, I bought a dishwasher 3 days ago and settled of 1SB/$, but the price has increased since then more than I would have saved with CB. Not back on UR yet, unfortunately.

This is like deja vu. Its happened at ebay and Staples in the past. Now its Lowe’s.
ebay stopped CB completely for sometime (before coming back) and crushed the use of coupons and GCs for GC purchases.
Staples completely stopped CB for sometime (before coming back) and crushed all of the then existing 25/75s and ended the stacking of $ off+% off coupons as well as ended easy rebates..
I guess Lowes will have to come back with CB and some kind of discounts some time soon because at their higher prices they are not very competitive against HD.

In my experience, Lowe’s and Home Depot are quite close in pricing. Depends on what you’re buying, I guess.

Not always; I’ve seen a few items where Home Depot was cheaper by 20% or more, items where Lowe’s was cheaper only if I had gift cards or used the Lowe’s credit card.
There were other items that were priced the same at both stores, and the portal cash back gave me incentive to buy from Lowe’s instead of Home Depot. I guess not now.

I miss the days when Staples would send me $10 off a $10 purchase on a weekly basis for over a year!

As a business, this stuff is just giving money away. If you are going to buy something at Lowes, you are still going to buy it. These cashback portal things cost some REAL money. As to Sears, Toys R Us thing – not gonna happen.

Two weeks ago TCB forfeited all the cashback from Lowe’s that was pending. Around 600 bucks. The only solution was to open the claim. Don’t know the outcome but i filed the claims for the most important transactions. Lowe’s has the most retarded IT-department with so much loopholes it will take me hours to point at. I don’t think revamping is helping – you can still have coupons

I’m having trouble even filing a claim with TCB for Lowe’s. Had a large transaction (around $1,200) in November and it is zeroed out.

My suspicion is they ran out of their budget for cash back. That’s it.

Why would anyone use cashback if you can get consistently 10-15% off through gift cards on top of 10% through the regular discount code.

Because the cash back stacks on top of all those discounts you mention. The question is why weren’t you getting cash back? It works like this for example:
$100 purchase
($10) 10% off promo code
($90) balance paid with gift card
$4 cash back paid on gross amount

Doesn’t seem like much here but multiply that by a couple thousand bucks and it’s a big payback. It was easy to net 30% under normal circumstances.

Never tried it with Lowes but there are plenty of stores that will give you cashback only on the final price after gift cards have been applied. Your final checkout price will thus be $10 and you would get 1 cent.

Yeah maybe that is why they killed it? Lowe’s was my first ever cash back. Imagine my surprise when all other retailers didn’t work the same way. Was nice while it lasted.

Perhaps a year ago when the coupons were better- was it $15 off $50, I could save around 50% off anything I could purchase in $50 increments from Lowe’s. I meticulously bought tile for my bathroom one box at a time.

Was killing the stacking at Lowes. Fortunately some stuff I bought around black Friday pulled 4% and 6% cash back. It has already paid out. But even worse is renovopower.com has been nerfed to only offering 10% off codes also.

I suspect at some point in the future, most businesses will do this. It really doesn’t make sense from a business perspective outside of running big specials like Dell does once in a while. I can’t imagine it really influence decisions as people generally just use the click through link after they know what/where they’re getting stuff

Lowe’s normally has a cashback rate of 3 to 5% earlier this year, and then has suddenly lowered all of them to 1%. Then they are started to drop portals. These changes coincide with the same time they are taking actions to revamp their current couponing system, so this is definitely an indication that they have installed some kind of RAT team designed to minimize losses. I personally prefer Home Depot myself since they are usually cheaper than Lowe’s without additional portals and coupons (along with better service), so this would just cement that choice in place.

Also likely that with the massive sales on GC this quarter and closing of many stores, they may be starting down the Toys “R” Us and Sears path. I would not be shocked if we fast-forward two years from now and Lowe’s is no longer around.

Walmart closes stores from time to time as well, I guess they are now Sears as well. Target closed some stores recently too. It might had something ro do with the Chase Offers for December. CSR holders had one for 10% back online or in store.

Not sure what site you tried but I just bought a washing machine last week and checked TCB Ebates, and BeFrugal. Neither showed Lowe”s as having any cash back. The coupon generator thing also did not work. What site did you see it on?
