Direct link to offer

  • Lyft is offering a free ride for up to $10 in value to select points of interest in honor of Black History Month.

The Fine Print

  • Each code is valid for up to $10 off one standard Lyft ride to or from a participating location (listed above). The ride must begin or end at the participating location to qualify.
  • Codes expire 2/28/19 at 11:59pm local time.
  • Limit one code per Lyft account while supplies last.

Our Verdict

It’s a bit annoying they give you a free ride there or back, but not in both directions. Still should be useful for some people.

Guess I can’t appreciate Black History Month here in San Diego. 🙁

In Washington, they give a ride to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which is really a fantastic museum — but good luck finding a ticket if you are coming from out-of-town. Whereas no ride to the African American Civil War Memorial Museum, which is very accessible and well worth the visit. Oh well, interesting walk around the U Street area (lots of good historical stuff, including Ben’s Chili Bowl; and a metro stop right there.

There are always people in line with some extra tickets bc someone or other didn’t show up. If someone really wants those tickets, just start asking politely and commit some time waiting in line, and if anyone has extras and there will bound to be a few.

That’s exactly how I got tickets for myself and my wife at the last minute for this museum.

Meanwhile, if you don’t consider it unethical (I don’t, but to each his own), you could “exploit” this offer if you needed to travel NEAR these destinations and were willing to walk from there. I know people have done this with similar offers (drive you to the polls, etc).
