Reader @danpeake let us know that his local Macerich mall no longer sells any gift cards (Visa & store) all cards and signage have been removed. It’s still possible to purchase third party gift cards online, but when trying to purchase Visa gift cards from Macerich’s online site you receive the following error:
- As of 12/31/17, Gift Cards are no longer available for purchase via this site. If you have purchased a Visa® Gift Card in the past and need support, please visit the cardholder support site here here or call the toll-free number printed on the back of your card. For inquiries regarding past orders, you may log-in to your account using your existing credentials.
Macerich sometimes had no purchase fee promotions. It’s possible some locations are still selling Visa and third party gift cards but given the website message that seems unlikely. Have also now seen several other datapoints confirming this, so I feel confident enough to post.
